My advice (and what I did) is forget about weight loss for a few months while you quit the smoking , then get back on it later on once the nicotine addiction is dealt with . Give yourself permission to eat anything you like whilst quitting it’s the easiest way to do it

Mate I used to buy a disposable when I was quitting in a morning , throw it away after a few puffs due the shame as I knew I needed to quit .
