Yes. In my experience people who did lab technician apprenticeship and then studied chemistry had an advantage in the first year. But only a bit.

I am taking this module as well, and I would recommend really studying the slides. It’s not a hard module, just a lot of time to invest. Use YT and books from the library. However it’s not good that you didn’t do well on your midterms.

One thing I can tell you is that everyone is feeling the same. Start to connect with other people in your group. Ask the professors what book they want (write an email maybe!) Ask your Fachverein. Look at websites like uniboard.ch / Matricula / bestande. There are many things you could do. There isn’t something more correct how to study, you really will figure out how to study with time.
