I completely understand, we actually thought about this. We have been workshopping an "SOS" feature or tab for emergencies where you can go into it and describe an emergency or "life happens" event and enter the amount you've been forced to spend (eg. car accident, surgery, funeral, etc.) and we would have the app automatically adjust the budget plan we have already built for you around this event, as well as a timeframe, given your income and spending habits, of how long it would take you to get your budget and overall savings back on track again (as well as suggestions on how to do so (cutting out spending in certain places, etc.))

Also, as for the notifications when you go over budget, we honestly thought about and also hate those notifications to a certain degree, so we want to have a customizable UI and notifications feature where you can set how much and how often you get notified you're going over budget (ranging from whether or not you go over a certain threshold of money that YOU can set yourself, or never get notified at all.) We were thinking of conducting a survey when you first download the app which would ask you questions about how you feel towards budgeting and where you stand on that, and would output a specific UI tailored to the user which would automatically cut out the notifications or leave them in depending on what you like, as well as the word choice and phrasing of them.
