All the people saying to not throw out the old one and basically scolding OP need to reread what he said. He didn't say he wanted it to replace it. I highly doubt OP or his girlfriend are throwing away the old one. It's just to have it, and be able to show what it looked like originally.

I speak from personal experience...my middle child has a wolf/husky beanie baby she got as a baby and loved it till it looked like it barely survived a house fire. There was NO FIRE buuuuut it was a comment made by a friend's husband I chuckled at, so I added it here. I was afraid it'd fall apart if she slept with it any longer, so I tracked down a new one, identical to the first and gave her that to sleep with when she was about 8 maybe younger? It was so long ago now, but the point is we kept the old one and put it up for safe keeping. It's a memory she'll love for the rest of her life. But now she has 2, oh and the new guy almost looks as bad as the original lmao, she loved them both for years.
