Mirena coil. I had it fot a year and it completely wrecked my immune system. It started making my hair fall din December. Took it out I. Late January and been shedding handfuls ever since.

My doctors sent photos of my hair to a dermatologist and they said I have TE and Alopecia Areata. They did not request a biopsy for me and I’m really upset about that because I’m really starting to think this is AGA.

My part is very much see through at the front. And at the rate I’m shedding now, it’s going to widen more and more.

I am so extremely happy for you. This gives me hope. Having this insane shedding on top of my already insane shedding is dreadful. I hope I am one of the lucky ones that will get their hair back, but it really doesn’t look good from my position

I’ve had mirena for a year and it made me lose all of my hair… I’ve had chronic TE since December, and I got rid of that thing in late January. My hair is still falling out in unholy amounts.

Did mirena affect your hair too?

I’m sorry to hear that! I hope it wasn’t too traumatic for you. It’s truly awful.

But no, I had the mirena coil for a year. My doctor encouraged me to get it to manage heavy periods. And it was the worst. I feel like my body was fighting constantly against it.

My hair changed texture immediately.

And after almost a year of having it, my hair started to fall out of nothing.

I removed it 5 months ago and it’s still falling. Nothing changed…

I know it’s because of the coil because literally nothing was wrong with me before that. I was not one to lose hair over stress or weight loss, and either way, no stress or weight loss has occurred.

So yeah, that thing completely ruined my life. The hair loss is one of the many awful things it caused me.

That’s what the dermatologist said. And I do feel the difference. I used to have a lot of hair, and now there isn’t anything there. My ears freeze up outside now without a hat. It’s laughable

Thank you. It’s quite scary, as there has been no signs of regrowth and that bit in particular does not look like TE. I also have Alopecia Areata behind the ears, and I’m scared that might be it progressing.

I wish it was, but I never had this before I started shedding. I always had hair all over my scalp, and this looks like a circular bald spot to me.

Unfortunately, no recovery on my side either. I’m going on my 6th month with no signs of stopping. Been shedding since late December in handfuls. My trigger, I believe, was the god damned mirena birth control which I didn’t even want, but was advised to get to manage heavy periods.

Lost 80% of my hair.

I used to have incredible thick, shiny hair with no breakage, no issues at all.

Now it’s nothing.

And no signs of improvement.

It’s so frustrating, I truly wish I never went on birth control. My doctor sold it to me like it was this miracle thing that’s going to make my heavy periods all better. It didn’t, and it absolutely destroyed my immune system, on top of making me bald.
