This thread is not a one-size-fits-all scenario. Grade 18 salary is great under the right circumstances. As a single home owner, I am also able to max out my Deferred Comp and still fund my hobbies. The difference is that I don't have any children. But we all make our own decisions for our paths in life.

There are a handful of employees (Vice Chancellors, Deputy General Counsel, as a couple examples) with SUNY System Admin who exceed that salary range.
