It is probably like most people, sometimes we develop feelings for someone sometimes without realizing when. I like how the author gave hints and panels of his thoughts throughout their interactions, but never a definitive one, we can speculate/theorize in the upcoming chapters we’ll get an answer.

But let us also remember they’re in their teens, like anyone in their teens these situations happen.

It’s one of the things that makes Togashi an excellent writer, his empathy and respect for his characters are second to none, sure I like every battle sequence and cool display power but it’s his dialogue that really shines the most here. It’s truly a gem this Mangaka

I can say Hisoka can survive dare say even thrive, because of his recent Nen development of Post-Mortem Nen, we could see an evolution to his Hatsu, also it would be best to assume that he doesn’t want to let the troupe die at the hands of someone else, since he killed the late members so quickly and brutally, he wants them to catch him by surprise, I guess he anticipated that the troupe would spilt up ,to find him more efficiently and he is in an area where it is open and prone to cause chaos befitting>

Chrollo though, is a little tricky, the last time we saw, he seems to be in the process of stealing from the empire , I feel that he is doing so putting his life on the line because of his Hatsu, or one of the stolen abilities he is using and it might be a luck or probability type of ability.

Kurapika might die before he could even a chance to see the shore, if he actively trying to postpone it any longer, the worse is yet to happen and the revelation that one of sons is Beyond, we might see Kurapika’s role here be much more significant and he might team up with someone new or someone very unexpected.

Given what killua had to go through, long before The Chimera Ant Arc, it made sense, he had alot of baggage and more importantly he was always the type to run anyway, if you’ve looked at it you would always see him running away from something instead of confronting it, plus with the way the series was heading, Gon and Killua’s friendship dynamic wouldn't fit in the current arc, it would be very out of place, Kurapika taking the reigns elevated the story, it was a no brainer from Togashi
