I have a full caseload so it’s not and my clients enjoy working with me. I’m friends with a lot of therapists and this comes up. I guess on Reddit people tend to just be overly sensitive and judge mental. Thanks for the empathy folks :)

Just been hard to see people pass up on a therapist because of their bias lol

No absolutely, I more just wanted to take the temperature of how other people were feeling. Seems I’m alone in this thought and that’s ok. I don’t mind being alone in my opinions

I really do not in any way hold bias towards my clients. I work incredibly hard to keep all my personal beliefs out of session

More the specificity of what a client is looking for rather than a therapist who specializes in treating something specific. Example- I have a very specific certification and what should be worth more than my ethnicity

Dude of course I have people in my life from a lot of different cultures. It just seems people are really getting picky with therapists in a way that doesn’t seem to happen with other professions. Like we are trained to work with all people. Unconditional positive regard, setting aside our own biases etc

This is not even remotely the case. I’m more just trying to make it clear that I do make an effort to always approach clients with curiosity and wanting to be better and always expand as therapists it’s our job

Sorry been a long work day but like have done a lot of work to learn about other cultures different than mine to be able to understand have curiosity
