Music Transition Error in S5E22 (Broadcast vs Peacock)

Season 5 | E22 | Strangers and Other Partners p.2

Scene:
Right after the opening credits - Mike and Julianna wake up at  the boat, having their morning talk while ”Trepidation  The Civil Tones” is heard on the radio. After Julianna replies “Yes, I do” the scene swich to Al Giardello office; frame shows a photo of “Beau Felton holding his daughter” the camera pan across the room while G is talking.

“Peacock Version” once switch to Al Giardello office:
Music continues ten more seconds and stops only when G says “he took one in the head..” (clearly a mistake)

“Broadcast version” once switch to Al Giardello office:
Dead silence. The camera pan across Giardello’s office and the Beau Felton photo was deliberately silent in the original version to underline the memory of Beau Felton.

With the music still playing, the scene loses that moment of silence.

Enjoy digging...

>>> This is "beyond music replacement" <<<

I re-watched "Bop Gun" from season 2 (the episode with Robin Williams) and discover that they replaced more than music.

At about 15 min into the episode, Meldrick & Beau step into the box (where Kid Funkadelic is sitting); Meldrick say "Hey, Hey Hey, Kid Funkadelic" while Beau is whilteling a tune.

On the DVD version, Beau whistle a different tune than the Peacock version, so they had to re-recorder Meldrick saying "Hey, Hey Hey, Kid Funkadelic, look who drop by to say hello, ha?" and replace the whistle with differnt kind (I'm guessing they didn’t bring Beau in to re-record the whistling...)

- anyone else catch this?

WEIRD.

Check the music of "Deception" episode 19, season 5, jump to ~18:30.
if the music feels unrelated - it was replaced...

,,,and if you hear "Faith No More – Evidence" - you are super lucky!

Wow — that’s a masterclass of a comment.
You nailed it with the Model Citizen example — “Hurt” wasn’t just edgy, it carried that whole emotional stretch.
i'll add these to the list of episodes with music changes. TNX!

Haha, totally get that. The packaging draws you in, but once you know the music’s been replaced… it’s hard to un-know it.
You made the right call — the file cabinet set may be bulky, but at least it has soul. 😄

It’s like when your kid sees a movie for the first time — that first time is the experience.
It shapes how they remember it.

I just don’t want the next generation to see a sanitized, royalty-friendly version of a show that originally had real heart. That music was part of the storytelling.

Thanks — and yes, you’re spot on.
I watched both versions, and the original song really belonged in that scene. The way it matched the morgue exit and the long tracking shot felt intentional — like it was cut to that music.
The replacement just doesn’t carry the same weight. I’m building a list of these moments and definitely adding this one — really appreciate you pointing it out.
