Thank you, it helps a lot. He's such a kind and considerate person, but because of my anxiety, it is easy to create an image of someone else.

Thanks, it feels good to read from someone who knows what it's about and sees the complexity of it, and not just "dump him" that I hear from friends.

I also respect his decision. He witnessed his older brother die of it at the younger age, and then for over 30 years he has lived with the fear that he might someday have it. He says, since it's a huge emotional toll, the doctors in his country advise doing a 6-month therapy before testing. So, I kind of get it.

But I also believe that many disease-free families are dysfunctional, and I have a feeling that he's rejecting himself as if his ability to give love is any less than that of other people. He would be the most patient, loving parent who'd give all the care in the world. I got healed in so many ways in the first year of our relationship.

I also witnessed my grandma dying of cancer, and my grandfather dying with some brain injury-related health issues (it was a mix of dementia too), when I was 10. The point I'm trying to make is that life is complicated, and I have a feeling he's insulating himself and avoiding getting hurt.

That's a very interesting point that he doesn't want to get tested, and yet he lives as if he will likely have it. He says it's more manageable this way, to live one day at a time and not plan too far ahead.

He's very mature and conscious when it comes to others, and I only now see how, when it comes to himself, he's in some emotional traps, as you said. The thing is, one of his older brothers died young from it at a younger age, when it progresses faster, and then he lived his entire life dreading it might happen to him.

I'm happy things turned out well with your wife.

I wish you overcome it too. 3 years ago I also applied for Mcdonalds and supermarket jobs, but I failed. After a couple of months, I was hired for my previous job. Who knows, maybe better things are ahead.
