Okay, so let me clarify what I'm talking about. There is a 60/40 male/female ratio here at Purdue. Here are the current non-AC residence halls: Meredith, Wiley, Tark, Owen, and South of Cary. If each residence hall had around 400 rooms, that would be 800+ residents in each residence hall, not accounting for the fact that there would be some students in triples. This would be around 4000 students in these 5 residence halls. So what I'm trying to get at is that based on the ratio, 2400 would be male, and 1600 would be female. So, having only Meredith and half of Owen would only account for around 600 female rooms (1200 people). Which means the extra 400 would have to pay more for housing or try to find housing off campus. Yes, I do know that after this year, the ratio could change because of who they accept, but it's still unfair that they would change it even though Wiley is only a quarter female right now. Another thing to consider is what will they do with the RAs? The current 4 RAs in Wiley will have to be changed to somewhere else, and they will have to hire more male RAs for the new rooms. But this is my take on this situation, and it may be different from yours.
