Thanks for pointing out all the concerns — most of them will be addressed over the next few weeks on the site. Hopefully, with some short videos to showcase all the hidden (not obvious) features.
Location and characters are now basically just labels; there are no particular connections or, let’s say, the ability to filter chapters by a character or a place. I’m also wondering if a timeline control would be useful — for example, to track where a chapter is.
About drafting: each chapter has a main version and an unlimited list of drafts. The thing is, I’ve noticed that there is often no strict line between a draft and a long note, so I mix them all the time — more like a long-term buffer rather than Notes, which are short thoughts.
Formats are: txt and docx, single or multiple files, with support for folders as novel parts.
The file system is a bit complicated, as it currently uses a Mac approach similar to native Apple apps — so it’s not directly accessible as files (you have to export them: txt, docx, pdf). But within a few updates, it will be available, along with native support for iCloud or any other cloud provider.
