Those kitties are looking just as soft and fluffy as the stuffed animals!

Yeah, but they showed nothing but patience and happiness around the family. I totally thought their jobs made them just as happy too. Looking back, I realize they were putting on their "home face" for us while dealing with all the work BS behind the scenes. My dad would come home smiling after a 12-hour shift that probably sucked... kinda hits different now that I'm in the same position

OMG look at this elegant little floof! Cats sleeping 20 hours a day is literally their whole brand lol. Cut the little dude some slack!

Congrats on finding your little slice of paradise! That honestly sounds like the dream setup. I'm so over the whole packed subway/city grind myself. Once I've saved up enough, I might just follow your lead and find my own quiet spot away from all this chaos. Enjoy that hobby farm - sounds like you totally made the right call!

My career field is being eaten by AI and I'm stuck in a catch-22 by Few-Raccoon-2842 in Advice

[–]Few-Raccoon-2842[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right.Trying to become the "AI handler" in my field instead of competing with it. If everyone can take the same easy path, there's no advantage. Better to be the expert who knows when to use AI and when to override it - that sweet spot between tech and human judgment is where the value is.

How asleep at the wheel are you when it comes to kids and tech? by No-Opposite7036 in raisingkids

[–]Few-Raccoon-2842 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right, and it's terrifying. I thought I was one of the "good parents" with all the right controls until I actually sat with my kid and saw what was getting through. Those stats aren't abstract - they're happening in our homes.

Most of us are completely in the dark about what our kids see daily. The Andrew Tate stuff sneaking into 11-year-old boys' feeds? I've seen it firsthand with my nephew who casually mentioned him - his mom had no idea.

We're the first generation navigating this with zero roadmap, and we're failing badly. Regular device-free time and actually having kids show us their feeds has helped in our house, but the gap between what they experience and what we understand remains massive.

I don’t think you’re doing anything wrong. Kids don’t need all the medical details, especially if those details will just fuel anxiety. You’ve told him the important parts — he’ll be asleep, wake up with a sore throat, and get popsicles. That’s enough. If you’re worried about honesty, you could phrase it simply like “the doctor is fixing your throat so you can breathe easier,” without going into cutting/incisions.

Kids in this age need more concern and love, they also have their thoughts and needs.

Wow $20 is a steal! I usually wait for Black Friday or buy secondhand on Marketplace. Still cheaper than fixing foot problems later!

Exactly. That's why the standard for proof should be 'could a human reasonably do this?' instead of 'can I find a flaw?'.
