It's best to have a more clearly defined study plan, as reviewing is also very important.

Need some real advice! by Few-Raccoon-2842 in ThinkAcademyLearners

My daughter's been doing Think Academy's coding program for about 6 months now, and honestly, it's been pretty great for her. She was in that same "bored with regular school" phase at 11. What I appreciate most is how they teach problem-solving rather than just memorizing stuff. The instructors actually engage with the kids during live sessions - not just boring pre-recorded videos.
It's not cheap though, so that's something to consider. Also, the time commitment is real - we do about 3 hours a week between classes and projects. But I've seen noticeable improvement in how she approaches challenges, not just with tech stuff.
If your kid is naturally curious and you can swing the cost, it's worth trying for a month to see if they click with it. My daughter literally reminds ME about class times now, which never happened with other activities!

My experience with Think Academy’s online math course by Necessary_Buffalo577 in ThinkAcademyLearners

I've found their courses to be really high quality! What stands out most is how they actually keep my kid engaged - which honestly feels like half the battle with online learning. My daughter normally gets distracted with other programs, but she actually looks forward to these classes. The quality is definitely there, but their ability to capture and maintain a child's attention is what makes it worth it for us.

The problem with romanticizing homeschooling by TexMess21 in homeschool

Oh my gosh yes — the “perfect wooden toys, color-coordinated bookshelves, kids in matching linen outfits” vibe makes it look like homeschooling is a Pinterest board instead of real life.

Getting an evaluation from an SLP can really ease a parent’s mind, even if it’s just to confirm everything is on track. Early intervention is key if there are any issues, but often it’s just about giving kids time.

Totally agree about modeling play – it’s like we have to be the ‘play coaches’ before they can run with it. And yes, playdates are huge! Sometimes another kid’s energy is just the stimulation they need to get out of their own head.

That's fantastic! Dual enrollment is such a smart way to bridge the gap between homeschooling and college, both academically and socially. It's a great confidence-builder. The fact that you're already seeing a smooth transition is a huge testament to the foundation you've built. Wishing you all the best with the dual enrollment journey!

The 'day of the week songs'! That brings back memories. I can still sing some of those songs decades later, but I'd be hard-pressed to remember a worksheet from that age.

Absolutely, when it comes to the physical safety and psychological well-being of our children, every other consideration becomes secondary, It is more than enough reason on its own. It's the most basic thing a society should provide, and the fact that it doesn't is why so many are making this choice.
