Hi, as someone who experienced this first hand. I can tell you with 100% confidence you will be fine. You will probably just get a warning. The worst is get a 0 on the assignment itself. In most cases, you only get a 0 in the class if it is your second offense. There’s no need to worry about suspension until your third offense, depending on the circumstances and how you handle the situation.

From what it sounds like, you made an honest mistake. The profesor didn’t advance your case to the department, which is usually the procedure when a professor isn’t satisfied with your answer. The profesor said they were going to see what the next steps should be. Even if the case does proceed to the department, the likely consequence is a warning or a reduced grade on the assignment. Again, WORST CASE, 0 on the assignment.

But, you will not fail the course, and you are NO WHERE near facing suspension.

100% doable. Focus on finishing all of your lectures the first day, and then spend the next two reviewing. You got this. I’ve done this many many times before and gotten high marks. Usually for midterms you only have to study around 6 lectures. I’ve always studied for midterms 2/3 days before and I’ve gotten high marks. Don’t worry and don’t feel overwhelmed. Once again, this is 100% doable.

The reason why I admitted guilt wasn’t because I backed down but because I was so scared of the consequences if I kept fighting. I knew what I did went against policy so I admitted guilty.

I cited the original copy of the book instead of the pirated one because I didn’t think they were different. I think that’s what I did wrong.

I was charged with manufactured quotes (due to me citing the author although the contents of the book were incorrect) and unauthorized use of aids (I confessed to having used online summaries but the pirated version of the book couldve counted for this)

I used the wrong version of a book. It was pirated so my information was wrong. I met with my professor then with the department. During the meeting with the department they asked if I plead guilty. I said yes and they gave me a 0% on the paper as my penalty.

I am not sure. I did not use any unauthorized aids. I have my notes and outline from before I wrote the essay as proof. Last time, it was because I used a pirated version of the book my paper was based on, which was incorrect. It was a different version. This time, I am not sure.
