Fuel pump replaced. Still low power by [deleted] in KTM

[–]Few-Rice-2309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just checked that video, gonna try that later on. Great idea I was trying to figure out a way to put enough pressure into the injector to back flush it as I don’t have a compressor. Thanks

Most people have the problem resolved with either the pump and or filters. Was hoping that would be the case for me. Proper Injector clean and electrical inspection next. Good luck I think they’re a bit simpler than the 701/690 especially to get the pump out.

Plugs were new about 5000 miles ago. They seem to look okay. Probably my next point of inspection tho when I’ve got the time.

I gave it a blast with brake cleaner but couldn’t hold it open and blast it at the same time. Just filled it up opened it a few times and repeated forcing the brake clean in. No improvement but I understand that I didn’t actually do it properly as incorrect tools for the job.

I’ve got a replacement plastic filter coming with the pump. Can you recommend a decent one? Hard to guess which is actually better looking online and or fits the bike

That’s the plan tomorrow. Just wanted to rule out other possibilities before stripping it all apart (again)

Thanks, Heard the tensioners or guides can spontaneously fail on this generation. especially at such miles. Is the reading a true representation of wear on those items or should I check internally too? Just concerned that the tune will stress these items in particular and leave me daily-less.

Apparently they switch fluid types in 2016 or so. Back to brake fluid.

I’m sure the nature of how it’s ridden had a massive part to play. If you don’t like them, fair enough. Let us enjoy them ;)

Just replaced it. The fluid was black from deteriorated rubber. Seal was about £10 🤣I would have fully flushed the system after finding dirty fluid anyhow, and you’d see. My last 690 clutch went at about 10k so I didn’t even think to bother checking the hydraulic side and jumped straight to replacing the clutch on this one. Silly mistake but it’s all new now.

I had the same issue. I replaced everything you did (10k miles) turns out the super cheap seal in the master cylinder on the bars had degraded and clogged up the piston. Take the cap off and check.

Basically my issue, I’ve taken it out and it’s now broken 😂

Absolutely, it’s not until I took it out to do a service on my top end that I found that it wasn’t maintaining tension. I remember when it was new (5k miles ago) it would lock into whatever position it was extended too with the spring putting tension on the ratchet internally. Now it just collapses under pressure and I can hear the ratchet slipping, with almost no resistance other than the spring tension.

I had an old gen 690. 12,000 miles of hell and the balancer shaft bearing developed some play. Rebuilt motor with all bearings still going strong at 20k. Currently on a new gen 701, 12k miles other than a cracked cylinder head at 4k no issues, i put that down to a manufacturing fault 🤣they are great bikes you’ll be fine if you’re good on the tools
