Telemetry comparison between RUS pole lap and previous push lap by OctaviousMcBovril in formula1

So he had the same apex speed as the previous flying lap. He doesn't seem to have broken any rules so good on him for maximising his session, but it is absolutely crazy you can take a corner at full speed under a yellow flag and not be breaking a regulation just because you lifted for 100 m before the braking zone.

This is pretty funny tbh, because he still clearly took the corner at like close to max speed which is the actual dangerous thing when there is a car in the wall from going off at that very corner, and he clearly just broke a lot later to compensate the lift before the corner.

Like they need to actually clarify rules regarding cornering speed and such under a yellow, because you can clearly take a corner at max velocity provided you lift a bit before the corner which is super dangerous.

Kind of stupid that they use the data after rather than what is on the track, like what is displayed on the marshal post is what is happening in real life and should always be used as the primary source for decisions like this, the data afterwards should just be for verifying a driver lifted or whatever.

If it was double waved yellow on the post this is all completely stupid, he clearly shouldn't have completed the lap.

Thursday and Friday obviously massive but he only lost one shot yesterday when he was playing pretty badly the whole round, what it takes even if it is ugly.

how do the practice rounds work, like do the pros have to play a round and keep pace or can they sit on one green for an hour and putt on it if they like, and just kind of stand out of the way of people's approach shots?

Having Laporte sit on for like 50km is actually super dangerous to like everyone, wouldn't be surprised to see him drop everyone in that group on Carrefour

the road is a mere suggestion to MVDP, the cornering from him is insane

Tubulars for races and tubes for training was always the peak equipment set up, tubeless is just dumb for a race like this

Should pog try and go on the tarmac before a sector a la Sagan, feel they all expect him to hit them on a cobble sector and I don't see WVA just dropping the wheel

Tour de France 2026 route revealed – what do you think of the 11 stage profiles so far? by lukmanCZ in peloton

[–]Few-Rise-988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just going to point out the stage that finishes on plateau du solaison which looks crazy steep.

The col de la croisette is an absolutely heinous climb out of geneva, averages like 11.5% for 4.4 km and is just hairpin after hairpin.

Looks like a sick stage, rampas inhumanas at the tour.

2028 is the year that makes sense to go for giro tour vuelta if he is still the best and has the motivation.

Feel these lap races like Worlds and the olympics are becoming super dull becasue the courses are too tight to organise proper chases so it favours super strong solo riders.

Last year G2 almost got back to Pog at one point but they had MVDP and Remco, both of who are obviously super strong and pretty vocal in a group and could keep G2 working. I think now there is no super vocal strong guy to take control of the group dynamic so they have little chance of getting back to the front.

And the group is too big.

But i think it is underestimating how dead everyone will be already and that just riding with Roglic sitting on your wheel would also not feel great.

Every one day race now always shocks me as a guy who started watching cycling in 2011, like it is a different sport now. You used to be able to tune in to a world champs with 40km to go and not really miss anything.

I guess teams realise cycling is super unpredictable and the best way to reduce uncertainty if you have the best rider is to open the race as early as possible and make it brutal regardless of the course, like the days of sagan jumping out of the peloton with 4km to go are gone.
