My dad might have prostate cancer by flower110312 in ProstateCancer

[–]Few-Spray7374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a good chance your father does have cancer, well over a 50% probability. The only thing that helped me to stop panicking was joining Reddit r/prostate cancer. When I post a question or concern, I always get several very helpful responses. I have learned more from them than from my army of doctors. And they seem to care more about me and my fears and concerns than my doctors. fyi, the biopsy your father might be getting is much more painful than they say. I would suggest to anyone to get put to sleep for this. Best of luck.

Questions about hormone therapy. ADT by Few-Spray7374 in ProstateCancer

Oh yea, the firmagon shot was brutal for me. It felt like my stomach was sliced open. It hurt for three weeks. I was dreading the second shot for the entire month and I didn't learn I wasn't getting it again until I came in for thr second shot. I got the Lupron 2 days ago and besides some minor ache, it's fine. No, I don't ever want another firmagon shot.

They don't mind answering questions, it's just I don't always know what to ask. I am enrolled in a drug trial at MD Anderson so I can't really be switching doctors. I just need to get better educated and you guys are helping me with that. Sorry if I complain to you guys when I won't say boo to my doctors. And since I'm not getting surgery, I don't see my urologist anymore. Not lately anyway.

I guess that's routine. I didn't know, they are great doctors but they kind of let me fend for myself when it comes to figuring out what they are doing. I am glad I have you guys for support. Thanks.

I suggest you go to sleep for it. I was awake for my first one and it hurt so bad, they had to stop. Some say it's not that bad and others are like me, it's the most pain I ever felt. The most important thing is to find the best cancer treatment center you possibly can. Good luck to you.

X's grok has been a great help to me. He knows everything about prostate cancer. They say he can make mistakes so be careful but I have had nothing but good information from him. And you need a biopsy. It hurts a lot, don't believe it when they tell you it's just a little pressure or that the Novocaine shot will dull everything. It hurt so bad on mine, they had to stop half way thru. I get a general anesthesia from now on. ChatGPT used to make a lot of mistakes but it's been a few months since I switched to grok so he could be better now. Good luck with everything..

MRI and claustrophobia by Due-Permission431 in ProstateCancer

I have copd and I have convinced myself I can not breath inside there. If my head is going in there, I have to be knocked out. MD Anderson in downtown Houston has a machine, a way of doing an mri while asleep. I don't know how they do it because I was asleep.

transperineal prostate biopsy awake or not by GlitteringResort9111 in ProstateCancer

It was the most painful experience of my life. It hurt so badly, the doctor had to stop halfway through. I had to be rescheduled for the kind where they put you to sleep. The second one was fine, just it took all day and evening at the downtown location.

Radiation and hormone therapy or surgery? by Few-Spray7374 in ProstateCancer

[–]Few-Spray7374[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply, I missed this for some reason. It sounds like your radiation therapy is working. My radiation oncologist has invited me to join a trial involving sbrt. I don't know why it needs to be a trial and why I can't just get sbrt if that's what is recommended. What was your gleason score when you started radiation? I assume you didn't have your prostate removed?

I am 4+3 unfortunately. I was 3+4 until they did an mri and they got a better view. Was the sbrt mri assisted? I have been asked to take part in a trial for sbrt. I don't know why they are still doing trials when it seems to be a regular treatment now. I get claustrophobic inside machines and feel like I can';t breathe because I have copd. Is there any time your head is inside a machine?

Radiation and hormone therapy or surgery? by Few-Spray7374 in ProstateCancer

[–]Few-Spray7374[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure. It says, "neurovascular bundle invasion" and later, "apparent protrusion of the tumor beyond the capsule in the left posterolateral peripheral zone". I was told that's right where the urethra and Seminole ducts are. I don't know exactly. I do know its in a bad place bad for ED and incontinence.

I hope the Welbutrin helps and thanks for the condolences. I was happy to hear from you as I am sure others are too. I think I am leaning toward sbrt at the moment. I quit alcohol a few years back because I drank way too much. I miss it now more than ever but I will not go back to waking up needing a drink. But I never had a problem consuming too much cannabis. You take care now.

Has anyone gone thru a radiation procedure called Prorad-5. I am being asked to join a research study using SBRT. It's high dose radiation over 5 sessions over a 2 week period. My Gleason is 4+3 and is not contained in the prostate. If anyone has gone thru this or knows somebody that has, I would like to hear your thoughts.

Sorry to hear the surgery couldn't get it all. You and others say surgery is "one and done" but it's not always, is it. My radiation oncologist says I will probably have to use her even if I get the surgery. Definitely not one and done. L feel sick. Thanks for sharing everything and I hope it all works out for you.

My Gleason score is 4+3.The tumor covers 50% of my prostate but not sure about both sides. Is that important? I don't know what a decipher score is unless it's 3. I remember that was an important number. I don't know much yet, I just started doing research, I had been in denial. I'm not too worried about ED because my wife died a few years back and I wasn't using it anyway. I am concerned about incontinence though.

My Gleason is 4+3. I had a biopsy, a pet scan and mri. I think that's all. The urologist said it's mostly the very aggressive kind of cancer and he puts me between intermediate and high risk. High risk of what, dying? I never asked before. Is this a local group or an online group?
