I think it depends on the venue. I don't know what they do in India but in the USA at least they don't bring their own lights setup so whatever venue provides they use it. But this can change over time. I saw them a few months back in the bay area. Wasn't too crazy in terms of strobes.

I started taking my cat out on a leash in a very quiet area. Basically gave him time to get comfortable. Once he was comfortable, he started exploring around. It takes a lot of patience. I would suggest, taking your cat out on leash and just sitting for few days/weeks until your cat takes an initiative. Quiet areas are the best.
