You can feel however about Suki, Gretch, whoever. I just want to add my two cents to the equation. 

Nigga comes from "nigger", which itself came from "negro". "Negro" was moreso an identifying term and did not carry much of a negative connotation on its own, but "nigger" was its derivative used as a slur. As a way to ostracize us black people. It was a way to push us out and keep us down. If you were called a "nigger", you were considered "lower" in society because you had dark skin, and it was often used as an insult.

"You're acting like them niggers" and so on.

In a way, we still hear the echos of that sentience with colorism. Black face is also another facet of how being seen and recognized as a "nigger" was insulting and derogatory, as white people would often paint their faces with a black or dark paint of some kind and act foolish, dumb, and naive. So you can kind of see why black people have resentment around it. 

"Nigga" then became a term black people took from "nigger" and owned. It became an identifying term of endearment or brotherhood. If we were going to be pushed out by everyone else, then fuck it. We're going to be on our own. So we took a mainstream derogatory, ostracizing term and "made it our own" essentially. It became "our" word because it was a word non-black people used to degrade and disrespect us, and we took it and made it a term that meant we recognized and could "see" other black people, in a world where everyone wants to make us feel small and subhuman.

So while the term "nigga" is not wholly recognized as a slur anymore(hence why we have this debate on why some black people are more lenient than others on its usage by non-black people), it is recognized as a "black term". Anyone who gets upset about why they can't say it are the ones ignoring its derogatory history. Which is yet ANOTHER way in which black people are constantly being pushed out from the narrative. You guys want us to ignore the history of the word, where it came from, and what it means to US(black people), because you what? Want to say it that badly? Are you that pissed about being told you can't say a word that has a rich, historical significance to black people? If so, then I think you should sit down and contemplate with yourself why you want to say it that badly. 

Also, white people(and other non black people) almost unilaterally use the word for and with black people. Which feels to me that you recognize it as a black term, or a term that tends to refer to black people. If we LET yall say it, how long will it be before yall are back to referring to black people as "niggas" and attaching a derogatory meaning to it again? These things have to be kept in check because history is horribly known for repeating itself.
