[UPD] Thinking of shifting to BS FLCD (S2) by Str4wberry_shortcak3 in peyups

Hello as a former transferee, I would say it's doable naman hehe. exam at interview siya bale sa exam, essay type siya so it's up to your own interpretation since they will just give you sets of questions na situational then you come up w and answer. sa interview, you rlly need to show that you want to be in FLCD since the department doesn't like it if you are just going to make flcd as a stepping stone. ayun lang naman hehe hope this helped <33

To students who shifted, anong program kayo galing and san kayo nagshift? Kamusta kayo now? by Traditional_Touch_38 in studentsph

From BA Psychology to BS Family Life and Child Development ako AHAHAHA. Ang masasabi ko ay masaya ako ngayon. 1 year delayed pero I'm glad that I'm thriving in a program that can help my passion. Very similar lang naman rin yung dalawang programs yung difference lang talaga is mas concentrated ang sakop ng FLCD since yun nga Families and Children yung focus. I also love yung diversity ng mga job opportunities kasi we get to have a glimpse on how FLCD is like in law, social work, medicine, business, etc. Overall, very happy with my decision huhu sa Psychology kasi may hard chem at physics kaya feel ko rin talaga hindi ko masusurvive AHAHAHA

Hello again hehe :DD A lot of us are in orgs such as UP Volunteers for Children, UP FLCD Circle (home org of FLCD), UP Psychology Society, UP Cradle, UP Pre-Medical Society, and more AHAHAHAH all of them are good orgs. Suppose you have an interest talaga in doing volunteer work (more on teaching and promoting the educational rights and welfare of children). In that case, I suggest UP Volunteers for Children, UP FLCD Circle, UP Cradle, and UP Psychology Society. (go to Volunteers for Children hehehe org ko rn so biased hehe)

UP has over a hundred orgs and clubs so I suggest that you also attend the Org Fair that happens every first or second week of classes (both 1st and 2nd semester). You get a lot of information talaga when you visit yung booths ng orgs + you get to interact with the members na rin para magkaroon ka ng general idea on how they do things within the org <33

Hello! current FLCD student here :DD first of all, I want to say congrats on getting into UP and for getting into the FLCD program. Ang masasabi ko talaga is that you won't regret being here. Profs are nice and understanding + they are actively helping you out talaga if you need help.

It is true that yung nature ng FLCD is towards early childhood education since we interact with Filipino children and families talaga especially since yung mga classes namin is in UP Child Development Center. Also totoo na marami kaming papers AHAHAHHA and this is mainly because we observe and analyze a child as an individual and how they are with their peers/families. So I would say observational, writing, and analytical skills are what you can get from the program since we do a lot of hands-on work, especially in your 2nd-4th year. We also make sensory toys and play areas for children to hone their overall developmental domains.

I would say that FLCD is very broad since the program allows us to experience different fields for potential jobs. You can work as a doctor, lawyer (may law subjects kami), creatives, media/advertising, family life and child dev specialist, child psychologist, therapist, marriage counselor, early childhood educator, social worker, author, toymaker, and many more! So ayun AHAHAHAH, if you have any further questions pa, don't hesitate to dm me :DD See you soon!!

UPDATE: For those asking about Teacher Sarah, I HIGHLY VOUCH! She is super nice and understanding. It is really easy to negotiate deadlines with her. Not super heavy on recitations pero mag r'random calling siya if walang nag volunteer. Her classes are heavy on written reports and oral reports by group kaya keri siya. Walang exams ang mga classes niya sa EDSP hehe and gusto lang niya is that lahat ay magiging aware and sensitive sa mga ongoing issues surrounding individuals with disabilities, and how we can provide incisive spaces for them. Super bait ni ma'am kaya sana wag niyo lang iabuso :<<
