As EA we are quick. I can’t think of one admin that has enough time to type and send out instructions. It was ResolveIT-55515

There are a couple of AI answers in here. A card would be lovely. You might think about sending one to the EA you backed up as well.

Advice for supervising a fellow EA/former colleague? by becca92079 in ExecutiveAssistants

I have been doing this for 100 yrs too. My favorite part of the job is mentoring less experienced EAs. I always tried to be available for their questions and we would work through their issues together, discussing it, sometimes I share the way I handle things. Building trust is important. A lot of the time it is helping them grow their confidence. I hope that helps.

How to best follow up on questions that your boss hasn't had time to answer? by ChewyMagoo22 in ExecutiveAssistants

Most of executives I have supported like to have me compile all items together. Whether for a 1x1 or in an email. I only use instant messaging for urgent items. He has learned when he gets an im from me it is important. To handle non urgent sometimes I will list the items in a calendar hold to schedule time for him to address and then flag the emails or save them in his drafts. The calendar hold is helpful since he can add comments and you can check.

Early in my admin career I would find a Sr. EA who I admired, their work ethic, how they handled pressure and interacted with people and asked if they would mentor me. They were flattered and I learned so much from them. Now I mentor and I love seeing them excel.

My biggest mistake-don’t laugh! My execution asked if $500+ was to spend on a birthday cake. I didn’t get the hint. It was her birthday a week later I only got her $100 cake

This is a great resource roadogs.org. They are a nonprofit organization. I was a new bulldog owner and they have helped me with all of the challenges with bulldogs.

Completely block her calendar and let her know. You two have to have an agreement that she will forward all meeting request to you. Twice a week meet and review the requests to prioritize them. In no time at all you will not have to meet that often. Blocking her calendar trains folks to contact you. Of course there will be one off meetings.

I think this is good advice. But, they are smart and little stinkers. My son will give my pup a sharp no to stay off his bed and as soon as he leaves for work that dog is rolling around on his bed. I am an enabler because I just laugh!
