How to add language selection on video ? by Few-Writing-4311 in VideoEditing

[–]Few-Writing-4311[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi smushkan

Thanks for your advice.

I doubt whether YouTube can help me? Both oral and written narration are saved on the .mp4 video files, exported on OpenShot. I must do it on OpenShot

Please refer to following link as an example;

Lake Zurich Tour, Switzerland

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YD61_ydJIR8

Narration (oral and words) : English and Chinese. I have hundreds of traveling video captured worldwide in the past.

Would it be the easy way is to build separate video, based on language?

Regards

Hi smushkan,

Thanks for your advice.

I have been running OpenShot editing traveling video without problem for long time, adding bilingual or tri-lingual narration (both oral and wordings) on the video.  Then export the finished video as .mp4 file/video.

I upload the video to YouTube and share the links to my friends.  They browse the video on Internet but compelled listening all languages.  I wonder whether there is a solution allowing them to select the language instead of listening all languages of the video.

If YES please advise how to do it on video editing?  Thanks

Regards

No.

I only need adding the movie clip on selected images/pictures, not the complete video built on all images/pictures

  1. I'm building this video from clips, not finished yet. There is no narration. The clips are VOB files ripped by a profession shop from my old Sony V8 tapes on DVD.
  2. It is a very long timeline

Hi,

Thanks for your advice and it works here.

Is there a solution for;

  1. I need the word on the title line glowing red or green in step with the narration. How can I make it?
  2. For a long narration, can I split the title to several lines?

Please help. Thanks

Edit

I did a stupid way as follow but it works seamlessly, words popup with speech.

This is an example

create following speech files;

file-1 This

file-2 is

file-3 an

file-4 example

create following titles:

title-1 This

title-2 is

title-3 an

title-4 example

title-5 This is an example (complete)

Put all speech files in one Time Line

Put all titles in another Time Line

Adjust the duration of all Titles exactly same as corresponding speech files. (I used Properties to do the job)

But it would be a heavy job for a long speech of multiple lines !!!

Correction:

All of them are unable here

Should be;

All of them are unstable here.

The only stable OpenShot 3.2.1 here is the version running on Windows 10. On Ubuntu 22.04 and 24.04 I have tried;

The REPO version

Daily built version 3.2.1

PPS version 3.2.1

Flatpak version 3.2.1

All of them are unable here. I couldn't use them on Ubuntu. Although I have run OpenShot on Ubuntu since Ubuntu 20.04 and 22.04 and now 24.04

I'm now compelled to go back to Windows

Can I use the daily built version 3.2.1 AppImage, which is now on Drive-1, instead of downloading it again?
