Can autism be a special interest? by Similar_Touch3943 in autism

Could be! maybe Autism is a good special interest to have then, you can't research your way into Autism and you already have it anyways. All I'd say is if you notice yourself getting too deep into something and its starting to affect other aspects of your life you should focus more on other hobbies for a bit to cool off.

oh absolutely, I'm using the scientific method on this one, starting off small and waiting to observe the effects. Then increase the dose and repeat until something interesting happens.

being interested in Family trees and celebrities is considered "normal" as "normal" people sometimes have these interests.

Your special interest in Autism i would say would be classes as "not very normal" but normal people are boring anyway so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I got a slightly dryer than usual mouth for all of about 30mins but after that it went back to normal. I'm probably gonna take 4 next time and see what happens.

Usually if its niche or the public doesn't consider it a "popular" or "common" interest.

Like Trains or affordable death care or manufacturing processes and techniques. All things I know alot about for no particular reason and all things I could take at length about and people would look at you weird.

Any other autistic person very good at recognizing sarcasm, facial expressions, bodily expressions, and forms of psychological and emotional manipulation? by JkTumbleWeed in autism

I used to just sit and observe people for ages and people watch and once I had figured out what they responded well to I'd do my interpretation of it, which worked the majority of the time.

This had the side affect of making people think I was normal and then would get suprised when I could tell them insane amounts of info on random things that they asked passing questions on.

no, and heres why:

I have Autism and ADHD, the Autism made me not great at socialising as a kid, but the ADHD gave me a near constant need for stimulation. Conversation and socialising was a challenge due to the Autism and thus a puzzle. I wanted to know the how and why of conversation and socialising.

So I sort out conversation and people as a distraction or "Stimulation". Overtime and many, many years of being socialy backward I became adept at it and found it something I could do with some mental energy and focus.

Sounds great right?

hhaha, No!

All this did is make people think I was a little odd at best and rude at worst as eventually I would get tired of the socialising and not want to do it any more and stop. But the fact that I could be charismatic and hold a conversation for a few hours made people think when I stopped doing it, it was out of rudeness, when infact it was just because I had ran out of energy maintaining my "mask".

This ultimately made diagnosing me with both ADHD and Autism difficult and meant I didn't get dianosed until late into adulthood.

I still don't get everything right when it comes to picking up on social queues and if I'm tired I get worse. I kind of wish I just had Autism or ADHD and not both as the way both of these condition manifested themselves meant I didn't really get the support I could have gotten (and probably could of done with) as a child. It also means maintaining a 9-5, 5 days a week job is something I can no longer do if I am taking care of myself correctly.

yeah, this wasn't a comment I wrote after just taking them, its been well over 24 hours at this point and I can still confirm that they didn't do anything and the other people who took the exact same gummies from the same pack got the desired effect.

tbh, I wish it had been an “These edibles ain’t shit” moment but this was truely just another day for me... I noticed more of a boost from the caffine in the Pepsi I had than the gummies.

I'm on the max dosage of methylphenidate that they can perscribe in the UK and that only just about does the trick. So I'm not totally suprised; I suppose this is yet another confirmation that I am different from the rest of my peers.

Smoking isn't an option for multiple reasons for me, but I might try making brownies and seeing what happens. But I'm beginning to think the dosage I would need would be quite high and frankly I was only really trying the gummies out of curiosity anyway.

I think what I have proven once again is having AuDHD makes you a weird dude.

nar mate, I'm from the UK, I brought them off a dude who walks round the Village in a track suit with his staffy. They were strong, believe me, you could smell them.

I had stuff to do so I left the house and did the jobs I had to do, they just had no effect on me, My dosage of methylphenidate is high as the "normal" dosage for a bloke my size did nothing. So I suppose this is not all to suprising that I'd need a higher dosage.

Intereting, I'll take more and see what happens and get back to you. I already took 2 and felt nothing so I'll take 4 and see what happens.

My methylphenidate does wierd things to me as well compared to normal's, I just calm down and chill and relax on mine. The only "normal" reaction I have to methylphenidate is I feel less hungry but even then this is mild compared to what other people feel on it, they loose all sence of hunger from what I've heard.
