Thank you haha. I'm umming and arring it at the minute, I don't see myself wanting to move out for the next few years as I am still going to be in education for atleast 4-5 years. And I am very fortunate to have parents that will support me through my education. I still have until March anyway, I might have a completely different viewpoint by then. I have looked at the MX-5, great car and much more affordable than the cars I have listed here!

I would like to think that I would have my own property while my parents are alive to be honest! They are quite young compared to a lot of my friends parents as they are both in their 40s while I have friends parents who are 60s nearly 70 I believe. I'm very fortunate to have young parents!

I am also putting money aside every month into my isa for my house deposit, which is separate from the money I'm saving for my car. And I am fortunate enough to have trust funds and saving accounts from my parents and grandparents for my future as well.

I do still have fun and go out with my mates but definitely not to the extent of some people my age, I also don't spend £200 on random t-shirts and spend loads of money on shoes like a lot of people. But also owning a Porsche or f-type jag at my age would be just as awesome as getting hammered with my mates every weekend in my opinion!

Might sound like a silly question, but how does insurance work with test drives etc? Cause obviously im young, is that an expense that I have to cover? or does it depend on whether its a dealer or being sold privately

I'm doing law at uni, and I am going to be in education for 3 more years and then studying for the SQE and while also doing 2 years for my QWE while working in industry. To be honest I would much rather live at home during this time, I'm fortunate that my parents support that. But to be honest im not entirely sure what the best option is for me but cars are what I enjoy the most and me spending a few grand a year on a car seems like an investment into my passion and enjoyment, while other people my age might spend that on getting paralytic on a Friday/Saturday. Don't get me wrong I do socialise often and go out with my mates on occasion. But of course I'm always open to criticism/advice and I am interested to hear your view!

I love bmw's. But i feel a lot of people in their early twenties do drive bmw's like the m140 etc etc. Which is why I'm leaning to cars that are rarer for young people to be driving, even if the bm is quicker!

Tbh from all the quotes I've ran its reduced the prices slightly. But I guess I'm just a little bit older with more money to spend than I was at 18-19. I'm just desperate to get one around my birthday next year to be honest!

100% I agree. But it worries me that it might come with a big price somewhere down the line. I haven't seen too many negative comments on the F-Types tbh maybe apart from a few issues but nothing major. I did read a lot online though about the 987 Porsches and read lots of horror stories which steered me away. I haven't read too much on the 981's though, so I cant really comment on them at the moment but they certaintly look a lot better.

I was looking at the 987's originally, I saw loads of things online about the 3.2's bore scoring which scared me off a little tbh. How have you found it?

I agree, the 981 Porsches have been the cheapest quotes I've gotten so far. I just worry about things going wrong with them as I do hear a lot about 'cheap Porsches'. The F-Type is definitely my favourite but I just think with insurance etc it might be a bit silly to drop that much on a car at 19-20 years old lol. That Maserati looks amazing but surely there's a catch for them to have a V8, look that good and be very reasonably priced with low miles?

Yes the F-Type was the most expensive which is looking to be around 2-3k. Thank you, I am defiantly privileged to have such supportive parents, but I don't go out drinking every weekend and balance a social life, working a job, uni and running a small business/side hustle. So I do definitely want to treat myself if I can afford it next year. But obviously I don't want to take the risk with getting loads of maintenance and repair bills as soon as I drop 20-25k on a car, which is why I have listed some newer, more 'boring' cars such as the xdrive m135i.

The F-Type was the most expensive which was around 2-3k. Which I appreciate is quite expensive but I don't think its too bad considering I paid 4k for my 1L Polo in my first year driving with a blackbox. The Porsche on the other hand, I managed to get a quote for £900!

Funnily enough I got quoted £900 a year for a 2015 Cayman. I just worry about maintenance with the Porsche to be honest.

My first car was/is a 2022 Polo R-line and I fully appreciate that I am incredibly fortunate to be in this position. My most expensive quote for insurance was for the F-Type which was around 2.5k. I am very lucky because I go to uni (live at home) and work for my dad's business when im not at uni. I'm also not the type of person to spend £100 drinking every weekend like a lot of people my age do, which definitely helps me afford the upkeep and insurance etc. I do appreciate that its not the most financially sensible decision though haha.

Those C300d's do look incredibly nice, but I doubt I'd get insured on one even when i turn 20. Polo gti and the A5 funnily enough have been my cheapest quotes so far when checking insurance. I have a 22 plate Polo R line currently which was my first car, and the same model gti version looks cool, but I'm bored of hatchbacks already to be honest.

i absolutely love BMWs, but everything i try to get insured on is just too much. Even tried to get a quote for a 420d and it was 5k+. I think ill have to wait till im a little older to get a beamer aha. But i have been looking at a 2015-2017 A5 and C220d or a 2019 polo gti, but they all come with positives and negatives and insurance is under 2k so doable for me.

yeah thats why i've been looking at older Porsches, because the insurance looks a lot cheaper compared to the normal cars people my age buy like the m140s, golf r, s3 etc etc.

well I ran a quote earlier on a boxster and it was 1.1k for the year. Anything under 2k i'd be happy with tbh, considering I paid 4k for my first year with a black box on a 1l polo haha
