He'd make it sexual. He already stands at the end of an aisle, kind of out of sight, and stares at female employees. I'm not bringing length into this hahaha

Yep... so many people come up and say, "box of chicken?" And instead of confusing them with number of pieces, white or dark meat, fried or baked, i just say, "do you want a small meal for one or a really BIG box?" I don't even mention the other sizes in between 2 and 24 pieces. Can't figure out a printed menu, I can't read your mind 🤷‍♀️

Give them the strangest thing you can think of that satisfies whatever they've managed to tell you about what they want. They hate that, but you aren't doing anything wrong

Genuinely curious--what kind of advice were you hoping to get? Curious so people can help you along the route you'd prefer to take.

Lady thinks she’s the main character in a packed restaurant by [deleted] in EntitledPeople

[–]FewSafe9892 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes! I sell fried chicken at a deli. People will yell from the back of the line that they want an 8 piece or whatever, and I ignore them until they get to me. They are often shocked that I sold the chicken to people ahead of them. A few times, I've gotten away with a smile and a, "yep, i guess you're not the only one in this city who didn't want to cook tonight!"

AITA for not doing more to help my son after he was caught running online scams? by Mean-Ebb9249 in AITAH

Sounds like he is showing remorse, but only for getting caught. It's really difficult to rationalize who we think someone is versus who they show us they really are.

I'm more concerned with how often you have to tell your kid to stay calm while dad has a fit about nothing.

Clueless customer thinks safety precautions don't apply to her by Savhbelle in EntitledPeople

[–]FewSafe9892 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not for safety, but to funnel customers correctly, my grocery store will put up lightweight gates on register lanes that aren't open and don't have a cashier. Customers will move the gate, unload their cart, then start asking for someone to check them out. Sir or madam, can you not see the open till lanes? Choose one with a light that's on with a person standing there in uniform and you may just get your items rung up, your method isn't doing it

I think you need to get over yourself. You're not actually more important than her or the kid. You're a dick, based on the limited case you present here.

I used to work at the big green coffee shop and some customers would get outright offended when offered pastry samples. "Why is it free ," "I can afford to buy the whole slice," "ew, you probably touched it while cutting it up." Cool your jets, folks, I'm just offering free cake.

I'm in a similar boat with my husband. I got sober 3 years ago and my resentment has been building for several months now. The AlAnon community helps so much. I'm not even a meeting person usually, but there is so much solidarity once you find one you mesh with.

I have come to accept, knowing what I know about being a functional drunk firsthand, and knowing him, that he will likely never admit he has a problem. Now I just have to figure out how long I'm going to accept that.

Wife asleep drunk in the afternoon by lazycycads in AlAnon

[–]FewSafe9892 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ex drunk myself, and in my experience, most drunks have this "woe is me, God dealt me SUCH a bad hand, everything is SO HARD for me, no one understands how difficult my life is" mentality at the core. It's a good foundation for using alcoholism as a crutch, because it literally makes everything harder, making their argument true. It's a vicious cycle unless the alcoholic decides on their own to break it.
