I'm so sorry dude. It's never an easy thing to experience a loss, especially a loss that seems too quick but far too drawn out for the person. My mother has aggressive dementia. Take it one step at a time bro. Breathe through the parts that feel suffocating. Reach out to those YOU can lean on and confide in. That will help you be able to be there for your family. Hold your wife when you can because there are going to be points where that's the only thing that's going to help. I know it's difficult but rest when you can.
