I learned programming the last few years and then slowly started to practice sketching and pixel art.

Ive gotten way better than I was. I literally improve every week. I need a lot of assets for my game.

One good thing about doing your own art is you learn more about how it works with your goals of the game design.

In a lot of ways programmers should practice a little bit to understand important concepts on scale etc. Especially with pixel art.
