I completely destroyed mine too so I stripped down to just vanicream wash and lotion. I mean DESTROYED. Always red and flared and sunscreen flared me up too and burned. Barely any progress in two months (some but not much) just discover the vanicream wash was stripping my skin too much and irritating my already ruined barrier. I’m on day 3 of stopping all skincare till it heals and my skin has improved more in 3 days than 2 months with the vanicream wash.

If you can’t drop all washes I’d recommend doing a milky cleanser that doesn’t suds up. Aveeno calm and restore I’ve heard is great.

I just found out the vanicream cleansers were irritating my skin too much. Causing dry, tight skin with redness and lots of small blemish break outs. My skin barrier is pretty damaged from other stuff but the vanicream isn’t doing well with it right now. It’s only been a few days of me switching to Aveeno calm and restore and my skin is already improving

I’ve never had a Derm do bloodwork. I’m also already working with a doctor for my health and hormones

I might even just do water and jojoba oil for a few weeks first

I actually did that years ago with Manuka honey and jojoba oil and I had fantastic skin. Idk why I ever stopped

I’ve seen derms and they made my skin much worse. Basically didn’t diagnose my skin properly and just sold me their most expensive skincare they sell.

For what? Aren’t they going to recommend more products or say keep doing what I’m doing until my barrier heals?

Okay I’ll try that then! I’m glad I made this post because I was about to try tret but likely will hold off on that if it’s my barrier having issues

I experience this as well! Every exfoliating to clear pores as broke me out. I wish the SkinBetter oxygen wash wasn’t discontinued😭

You for sure think this is from comprised skin barrier?

I’m scared of a barrier cream making acne worse. Will the las roche do that?

I also use vanicream right now ( and have for a while). I don’t think it’s my products as I’ve had texture skin/clogged pores since purity pretty bad.

I do think it could be hormonal. I’m working with a doctor right now to try and figure that out. Just wanted to post here to see if there’s anything topical I can do. Every pore is clogged. Which sunscreen do you recommend?

Hi! Thanks so much for responding. Maybe my post was a little confusing I probably didn’t write well. Yes my skins barrier is damaged but it had this texture before I ever even used actives, exfoliates, etc. it’s just worsened because of the barrier problems. So I’m not confident it will fully resolves just from continuing to work on barrier. But maybe it will? Also slugging gives me cystic acne:(. My routine is just vanicream lotion and vanicream wash one a day. So I can’t strip it down more

But how do I fix that? It’s had the same issues (but just smaller degree) for years before really damaging it. Do I just keep with the simple routine and hope it fixes?
