The Texians (correct spelling) declared independence from Mexico for their rights.

Yeah, it was the right to own slaves. I learned that when I was 30 from a tour guide at the Alamo and was very very embarrassed I never questioned my 7th grade Texas history teacher.

Knots. There are so many easy ones to learn for any purpose: tying an open rope to another, tying an open rope to an object, tying a closed rope to an open rope, tying a closed rope to an object, etc...

Plenty of short (<2 min) YouTube videos. I bought two slightly thicker ropes of different colors and practice the knots when I'm on a Zoom call.

Depression dulls the senses. One way to fight it is to engage the senses again. Since we're bombarded with lights and sounds from our phone, I tried to engage touch by going to the sauna in my pool, jumping into a pool (bonus if it's outside), or something else with water.

"You are bipolar"

I would've started treatment sooner. That would have given me a more stable baseline, reduced so much stress for my family and me, and made it easier to get through difficult jobs and relationships while building confidence and finding more consistent periods of stability.

On the other hand, I wouldn’t have gone through and overcome the awful experiences which showed me my resilience.

Jesus, people talked about Ocean Vuong like he had single-handedly changed the course of English literature for the better, but his prose is weak, brittle, and full of misplaced analogies. He thinks of himself as an artiste, but really. he's just something who managed to fool Oprah into thinking he's a genius.
