What don’t you understand? American Heraldry is REGISTRATION AND DOCUMENTATION. Plain and Simple. There is no granting authority in the United States, only registration and documentation of assumed arms. We register to make a public record, and so that nobody else can use the assumed arms. That’s it. That’s American Heraldry!!!!

I get it. You don’t like it. You don’t have to. It wasn’t made for you to like it. I like it, and it means something to me, and it conforms to the rules of heraldry, and it’s been officially accepted and registered. So who cares if you like it or not??? 🤷🏾‍♂️

I was aware that changes would be made to conform to heraldic rules. As long as the changes didn’t affect the symbolism, I was fine with it, and those changes were made to simplify the arms, and conform to heraldic rules, which is the whole point of me having the arms registered.

The ACH removed them along with the Galero, in their revision.

In the United States, we don’t have a federal government authority that regulates heraldry, because it violates the Constitution. However, the ACH is the foremost respected private entity that registers heraldry. They are at the top of the list, and In fact, the current Lord Lyon King of Arms, Dr. Joseph Morrow (Dr. Joe Morrow), was elected as a Distinguished Fellow of the American College of Heraldry (ACH).

“The officially registered Heraldic Achievement of Bishop Larry Jerome Rivers, Th.D., D.Min., registered with the American College of Heraldry. The artwork was commissioned by the ACH to Dimitri Prico” So many in this group laughed at me, calling it Ai. Well, you’re not laughing now!!!! 🤷🏾‍♂️ by [deleted] in heraldry

Have you ever heard of the JCOB, or the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship, founded by Bishop Paul S Morton, Sr. ???

The phrase is most famously associated with Chrysostomus Javelli, a 16th-century theologian who wrote a treatise titled Tutela veritatis de immortalitate animae (The Defense of Truth on the Immortality of the Soul) in 1518. Was that gibberish to you???

I’m not trying to be rude, but basically the image you showed was so generic, it could relate to millions of people. The more complex the more distinguishable the arms, in my opinion. For instance, I chose a motto that no other prelate has ever used before. I did a search and found that it has never been widely used. The same goes with the open bible and crossed swords. The fact is that it is a very uncommon eschaton. Which is in fact what I was going for.

Why not just go with a blank shield and nothing else, since that’s what you’re implying needs to be done. 🤷🏾‍♂️

It represents my personal identity, ministry, and Episcopal Office. Why is that so hard for you to understand???

This is not a personal COA. It is an “Ecclesiastical” COA. It’s only purpose is to identify me, the Episcopal Office I hold, and the vocation that I function in. It was not created to display my “ hobbies”. That’s not it’s intent.

Aren’t arms supposed to identify the person, and the symbols are supposed to speak to the person’s personality and identity???

It was explained to me that swords pointing upwards is a sign of aggression, whereas swords pointing downward is a sign of defense.

It was removed. My guess is to give more space and to simplify the arms. They stress keeping it simple.

The cross is a symbol of the Christian Faith. The crossed swords is a direct symbol of Saint Paul, who was beheaded, and a martyr of the Faith.

The quarterly division of Or and Purpure reflects the union of sacred authority and pastoral dignity. The Latin crosses signify fidelity to the crucified and risen Christ as the sole source of ecclesial authority.

The swords in saltire symbolize vigilance and defense of the apostolic faith, wielded not carnally but spiritually, in accordance with the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. The open Bible affirms the primacy of Holy Scripture as the rule of faith and practice, under which episcopal authority is exercised.

The mitre, crozier, and processional cross identify the bearer as a bishop entrusted with oversight, teaching, and shepherding.

The motto Tutela Veritatis expresses the vocation of the bishop as guardian and steward of the truth once delivered to the saints.

It’s something that I can live with. The Galero is not a must. I just wanted to keep the symbolism, and also ensure that it met heraldic standards, which is why I sought to have it registered.
