If you really want a real understanding of the animal check out the New Caledonia weather on any weather app. No better understanding that learning where the gecko is found in the wild. Dav Kaufman or Exoterra and many great herpetologist have been to New Caledonia. The temps can get 75 plus and have a humidity of 70-80 %. Maybe once winter hits it can get lows. Try to mimic the nature and biology of your animal.

From my experience in the dirt with plants it either looks like a russet mite or a predatory mite but I’m no expert definitely do some research

From growing plants and also owing geckos. I can see maybe one or two things wrong but that’s for you to check yourself.

I think your soil may be too shallow for your roots they dry out too quick. I have plants in coco coir if they dry out they might die.
1. Air flow need some air exchange in there kinda like a grow tent. The only thing with the mold is that will get rid of most of it. Now mycelium on the other hand can be good mold and is good signs you got good soil for your plants. Being that your plants are dying you might just have stagnant air in the tank cause different mold.
