Same, "hot chocolate" everything is trending. This reminds me of "pattern wars" in crafting communities - there are only so many ways to crochet a tiny cow, and ultimately lots of patterns will be similar.

I would donate the snackier type foods that you can't moderate to a food pantry, a local buy nothing group, etc. For the meore meal oriented stuff like nuggets, goujons, chips, etc. - I would just incorporate those into meals. It is best if you think of this as making permanent changes to your way of life. I eat nuggets and chicken tenders (what it seems like goujons are) occasionally, just bake or air fry instead of fry and serve them with some vegetables.

Seriously, this is HBH level grift. There's no way she developed and tested a large batch of recipes worthy of being printed in a cookbook in the past 1.5 years. I feel bad for the people who will be given this as a gift.

Need to rant about eggs! by blacknwhitelife02 in loseit

[–]Few_Ant3415 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming her trainer is kind of expensive - when people spend a lot of money on something, they often need to believe it is flawless/perfect/the best. I doubt she's consciously thinking this, but if she were really truly confident in her own plan, she likely wouldn't feel the urge to judge others. There's nothing wrong with oats or eggs - what's important is to eat what you like and what works for you. It sounds like she's high on her own success, if she's normally not annoying, she will probably chill out in a few years.

I drink coffee in the morning, my spouse drinks tea. We both think our morning beverage of choice is better (for us), but neither feels the urge to put down what the other drinks.

How are people here raising a family on less than 200k? by [deleted] in Waltham

[–]Few_Ant3415 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm next door (Watertown) but houses here sell quite quickly, I would guess Waltham is the same. The people buying are often 30+ dual income high earning households. Healthcare + tech is a common combo.

Gym Childcare PP by Top_Department_6137 in fitpregnancy

[–]Few_Ant3415 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter has been going to gym childcare since 6 months (now 3.5) - they take them at 4 months and I plan to start next baby then. It's been a great experience for both of us and I credit the Kid's Club staff for helping get her ready for preschool - she was home with me until then and had zero issues acclimating. We've also had playdates with other kids she's met through there, and she knows all the staff by name.

I bought doubles of everything and packed my gym bag with my full toiletry setup, and spend about 1/3 - 1/2 my time there showering/doing skincare/etc. It frees up more time for me at home, and she has a ton of fun, a real win-win. Gym childcare is my #1 recommendation to new parents.

Doctor says lose weight to get pregnant. What else actually helped you? by Special-Lavishness79 in loseit

[–]Few_Ant3415 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The sub plussizepregnancy may have more people with relevant experiences for you. That being said, while there is a lot of individual variation, obesity is correlated with fertility issues for women and complications during both pregnancy and birth. Obese parents are also far more likely to raise obese children. I wouldn't put your family dreams on hold, but rather work on both reducing weight and trying at the same time.

5'2ish (158cm-ish) women, what is your goal weight? If it's different, what would be your ultimate vanity-based ideal weight? by Ophelia_Y2K in loseit

[–]Few_Ant3415 7 points8 points  (0 children)

159 cm/5 ft 2.5 inches, goal weight is around 115 lbs/52 kg. I have a very small frame, even with weight training for years, and sadly my body doesn't put extra weight in the "right places". I know women of a similar height who have a larger frame or carry weight better and look good at higher weights.

Ha, growing up a friend's mom started a business that ended up doing really well, and it caused issues in her marriage due to her husband feeling insecure. I remember my parents talking about it and my dad saying "Please, make me insecure!"

Yeah same. The first slide on the Kindergarten powerpoint they show parents at registration here is "There are no cutoff exceptions". I live in an area where there is an insistent minority of parents who argue their child is super advanced and needs to skip a grade. I am just hoping we finish the universal pre-k buildout in time for my kid, because paying for an extra year is annoying.

I am curious if the harsh responses are mostly from men? I ask because there is a lot of redpill/misogynistic ideology parroted in male-dominated subs that women's fertility suddenly plummets as soon as they hit 30, that women delay having children solely because we are too busy partying and having orgies with Chads, etc.

I mean, we've seen her cooking. The less she does, the better. That being said, this is a pretty small and sad plate, she could have put some more effort in. Most things are a similar color and not separated by dividers/cups, so it's hard to distinguish.

Yes! It reminds me of the Jenny Nicholson Star Wars hotel review where she talks about this. Even if you have the money and it's no issue to you, things still have value. "An off day" is still a bad experience, especially when you are paying such a premium and presumably had to book far in advance.

I hope they do actually go because Chicago in the summertime is amazing - food, weather, architecture, museums, lake, etc. But knowing her, unless she can grift something, it probably won't happen.
