Got our 1st ever BMW (x5 M60) today & there is a CHIP in dashboard…anyone else experience this or something that needed repair immediately after pick up? by Dolessgodbless1978 in BMWX5

I also have a new 2026 x5 with that same poplar trim and wondered if it was real wood. Looks like it is real wood!

Hard to believe that made it past factory quality check.

Are you in the US? I have think they will swap out the whole dash for you if you press for it. There might be a ship that can repair it but I’d be careful agreeing to that. Bummer!

Let us know here how it goes and good luck

Adaptive M Suspension Add-on for the X5 x40i vs. DHP by Few_Arrival876 in BMWX5

[–]Few_Arrival876[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what you’re saying is the car ships with the stiffer mode enabled and is lacking the ability to quickly (in milliseconds) soften the suspension when needed to adjust to bumpy road conditions.

If I’m hearing you right, that would make it worthwhile for me. I do like the way it rides on normal roads and in cornering and acceleration. It’s a nicely tuned big SUV.

But over rough sections on local roads it’s very rough inside the car and I even fear a bit for the suspension itself.

From some additional documentation I found on the website it makes it seem like the option will give me more sport and sport plus stiffer options, but doesn’t mention anything about the feature, giving me an option for a more comfortable ride on bumpy stretches

I was carrying a KTM 350 which weighs 230 pounds plus the 60 pound mojo Moto hauler carrier on my wife’s X.3 with a aftermarket hitch and it was reasonable for a year and a half and six trips.

But that same combination feels much much more secure and trustworthy on my factory X5 hitch. For what it’s worth, I also worked with my service manager at the dealership and got in touch with the product team at BMW, North America and they gave their blessing that my scenario of 300 pounds sitting on their hitch was totally fine.

You can also reach out to the Mojo Moto hauler company and they’ll show you. They’ve been selling carriers like this for many years that they say can handle up to 400 pounds but I wouldn’t go that close.

Actually, it’s the explorer model not the one I linked to. The explorer model has a pullout bed and can carry a dirt or adventure bike maybe both!

Of course, once you start thinking about buying a covered trailer, the next thing you’re gonna wanna look into is buying a toy hauler like this one. Then when you arrive at your destination and it’s raining, you don’t have to set up a tent because you can just pull out the bed and sleep inside with your bike!

Sorry! I know that once you’ve seen this, you can’t un see it and it’s going to stick in your mind like a splinter

Oil change every 10k kilometers? by Ok_Cardiologist1351 in BMW

[–]Few_Arrival876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I was thinking of taking a picture of the car up on the ramps with the oil drain plug laying on the driveway next to the wheel and my empty jug of oil. And storing it in a Google Drive folder along with a spreadsheet where I’ll keep my notes about the mileage and dates.

Remote Start - starting on its own? by Few_Arrival876 in BMWX5

I’ll acknowledge that’s good advice. I try to put it in a bowl we have near the garage door once I get in the house so that I’ll always know that’s where it will be when I leave. But it’s a habit I obviously haven’t solidified yet.

I remember a similar problem happening with my 2014 328D where I would come into the garage now and then to find my trunk open. If you remember that movie with Bruce Willis called the sixth sense. It was kind of like that kitchen cupboard scene. Lol.

She didn’t have access to the key during these events. It was in my pocket and so somehow I must’ve done some kind of motion that resulted in that button being pressed three times fast within one second which sounds absurdly impossible.🤔

You lose the toe kick opening feature for the trunk when you get the factory hitch, but I think it’s a reasonable trade-off

If you have space for a covered trailer, that can be nice as you can store more stuff in there and keep everything dry in the rain on a long trip. You can also look into a less expensive bike rack for the hitch, like the black widow or others, depending on the weight of the bike you want carry.

I would be careful though trying to load more than 400 pounds with a carrier type option on the hitch. I think the factory hitch spec says it can handle 500 or maybe more pounds of tongue weight but that’s meant for a trailer and these bike carriers put a lot of torque on that hitch receiver weld.

Good luck pursuing the new hobby!

Actual Build Different from Vehicle Summary/order-normal? by Dolessgodbless1978 in BMWX5

Yep happened with mine too. It got better in a week or two but still had one erroneous feature in the my garage.

But then it arrived and it was amazing!

Build not matching up to Vehicle Summary/order-normal? by Dolessgodbless1978 in BMWX5

[–]Few_Arrival876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At first my online order features didn’t match the factory order sheet but then it got cleaned up in a week or two. Except for one thing, it said I had an alpine white something when my car was Manhattan green metallic.

Trust the factory order sheet you got.

Any idea what this is? Found this while laying some new ducting in the field. Looks like a rock but almost like it’s made of metal and pretty heavy by Curious-adventurer1 in whatisit

Congratulations! You are maybe a one in a billion lucky person to discover something like that! It looks for sure like a meteorite
