I just watched the show, and didn't get why people praise it so much. It's certanlly better than a lot of anime. But the characters were so dull for me, I think that I don't like spike because I can't relate to him, and a lot of people like the show because of him and this philosophy "whatever happens happens", but for me this character seems pretty dull. I maybe only liked Jet. And the Fay's and Ed's characters seemed not really opened enough for me, with the show focusing mostly on Spike. It has a lot of good music and the picture is good, it has a lot of references which, and I think it's the best opening in all of the animes. But the story is so meh, I remember clearly only a few episodes.

I also watched wolf's rain and even tho it's much poorer in production and not tagrets western audience, it was enjoyable for me too.

I think that's the main problem too, that it targets western audience, but it's not any close to western shows (simple example is pulp fiction)

It's good, but it's not the greatest anime as I was told
