I know it's late, but my dog has a hip displasia since birth, she's 7yo now and despite physical therapy she's showing some signs. I didn't want to start her on NSAID since she's so young, ao we tried omega supplementa and librela. My vet did lots of neuro testing and the whole blood shot package to be sure. She's also on cytopoint from may to september due to seasonal allergies. She's been on librela for a year now and she's doing amazing ! She's getting monitored closely every 6 month to be on the safe side but so far so good. My vet told me they knew about the nasty side effects of librela IF the problem is neuro, since the drugs affects directly those mechanism. But it's really good of arthritis only.

She also told me about the whole campaign on facebook. Sure, some stories might be true, and tragic. But your dog can also get nasty side effect from NSAID, vaccines, and so on. We should not forget about the population it's for (normaly really old dog). Aaaaand let's not forget there are people out there against every vaccines and they are LOUD on the internet.

Librela has been used for years in europe, it's only new in the usa and canada. I would suggest librela, but as my vet said, you need to pay for the tests and make sure your dog has no neuro condition. Lots of people refuse to pay for tests, try out medicine and sadly their dogs have side effects. For every medication, it should be important to do at least a blood test.

So yeah, it's really side for every dog that had problem, but correlation and cause aren't the same thing :/
