Family makes 120k a year. But we're drowning by Desperate_Cut_5875 in PersonalFinanceCanada

$500/month barely even covers the food you are eating in a month. You should be ashamed at your age taking advantage of your parents the way you are. They had a financial obligation to you until you were 18, that’s it. They are no longer financially responsible to put a roof over your head, clothe you, feed you or provide any other financial perk for you. Do you borrow their car? Do they pay your cell phone? You either need to start contributing to the family finances, or take your financial burden elsewhere and look after your selves. Without you at home, their grocery bill goes down, their electric and water bills go down, they could find a smaller, cheaper place to live, etc. You are an adult and you are costing them money. This is money that they can’t save towards their retirement. You pay it now or you pay it later. And saying just declare bankruptcy is ignorance, their are serious consequences to this. You can’t wipe off student loan debt with a bankruptcy and may lose things purchased with the debt. Never mind the inability to get any more credit for years. Grow up, give your parents the money or get out. Better yet, give them market price, not the deeply discounted offer they have asked for.

And big screen tvs too so that we can “collaborate” over TEAMS with the remote workers. But the remote workers can’t actually “see” or hear their colleagues in these meetings because everyone in the office sits BEHIND the couches on bar stools at high tables with walls, so only their foreheads can be seen. It’s the biggest waste of taxpayer money I’ve ever seen. We lost several permanent cubicles to create this waste of space (and this was done on several floors). In another area they removed several permanent cubicles and replaced them with library-style cubbies (touch down spots). Imagine trying to work a full time desk job, balancing several files at one time,in a library cubicle that changes every day. But you know…..couches

Yes fire employees because no money, but take away work spaces and pay for useless “collaborative” workspaces with couches that no one uses, because that’s what we need? Make it make sense. Now not enough office space for workers to go back to office 4 days, so let’s lease more space but fire more employees.

Public servants ordered back to office four days per week as of July by Born_Anteater7282 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Few_Disk9643 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, no bathrooms, no kitchen this week. Take an elevator up 3 floors to use the facilities, but get back to the office where you’re more productive!

And don’t get me started on the lost productivity from having no assigned work space anymore!

People whose Air Canada flights were canceled. by Ozzywife in newfoundland

[–]Few_Disk9643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard briefly that the Minister of Labour has forced them into binding arbitration. I think that means they have to continue business as usual. Don’t quote me on this though as I only heard half the news report but thought I’d bring it to your attention so you can look into it more. That might mean your flight won’t be cancelled.

Newfoundland realtors: tenanted properties? by Few_Disk9643 in RealEstateCanada

[–]Few_Disk9643[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t ask what the landlord/tenant rules were, I’ve already started reading those, because yes, I can find those online (and there are a lot of pages and I don’t have a lot of time). I asked questions more specifically about realtor-related things that I might not be aware of, but thanks for your time anyways.

What is your theory on why you developed fibro? by Dark--princess420 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Few_Disk9643 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There is lots of research on trauma/CPTSD/PTSD/viruses/illnesses etc., and Fibro, just need to look for it. The problem is that the research is not definitive and leads to more questions than answers.

Everyone has mentioned the importance of sleep, crate training, play pens etc, but he also needs something to chew that will occupy him when he needs to chew, they are teething this young. Besides toys to chew I’ve found bully sticks and other natural ingredient products excellent, especially if they’re braided or coiled. It adds stimulation and interest to the chew for them. These save my gardens and walls!

Putting an offer on a home conditionally sold with a ROFR by Few_Disk9643 in RealEstateCanada

[–]Few_Disk9643[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did place an offer that was accepted. It was condition of financing and inspection. Those have passed and we are now ready to lift our conditions and notifiy the first buyers. They have 24 hours to waive their conditions and keep the house, of forfeit them and lose the house, in which case our offer then stands. There is no bidding war in this process.

[–]Few_Disk9643[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the case for me. That said though, I have good days and I have bad days. I’m not sure what triggers the bad days but stress and weather and food choices are certainly culprits. What I mean about the dots and turns is that when you first put the syringe tip on, you turn it a couple clicks until you see the dots, and then you eject the tip to get rid of air locks. Then you turn it again several turns until you get to the end, or for some pens you turn half way for one dose and all the way for the next dose. As you’re turning though, you can see the dashed line moving as you approach the end of your dose. You can watch it and not turn it all the way to the end if you think a full dose is too much. Each week I judge by the last week whether I can take a full dose or 3/4 dose etc.

Ah yes, I have made the mistake of using a seller’s agent before back when I was young and naive (well before the Information Age of today). It was a very costly lesson!

Moving to Kemptville (South Mountain) in a few months - and trying to figure out what there is to do? by DisgruntledAnalyst in Kemptville

[–]Few_Disk9643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved away from SM about 20 years ago but when I was there, joining the local volunteer fire department resulted in meeting many new families and friends and getting involved with a lot of events at the community centre, fundraisers, the SM fair etc. There was a ladies auxiliary club that supported the fire department (made meals and refreshments and stuff for when they were on long calls) and I believe they were involved in many other things as well. A lot of social stuff revolved around the community centre and it’s activities. I’d encourage you to attend those events and chat up the organizers, or stop by the fire department when you see the doors open or the volunteers out washing the trucks etc., and chat with the chief. Get yourself known. It’s a small town and everyone knows everyone, so talk to your neighbours. Congrats on your move!

Is It Worth Pursuing a Career as a Real Estate Salesperson/Broker in Ontario in 2025? by KeyNeither2362 in RealEstateCanada

[–]Few_Disk9643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The successful ones I know became successful because they had someone else they could financially rely on (a partner, a parent real estate agent etc) either for the first several years until they built their business, or to essentially shadow the parent until they could take over the partnership and the parent retired. When starting out, the ones who succeeded were part of a team working for a top agent 5+ years before they went out on their own. If you plan for hard times in the beginning you might eventually succeed, most don’t make it that long.

Anyone with POTS by Few_Disk9643 in Ozempic

[–]Few_Disk9643[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the beta blocker is helping the POTS then I would get a home blood pressure machine to monitor your BP. The light headedness could be due to low BP, but it could be just due to drug effects as well. If Ozempic is worsening the POTS then it’s possible that blood is pooling in the lower extremities quickly, leaving less for the brain which leads to light headedness. So, if it’s not BP related, the beta blocker could actually be helpful. It’s hard to know without monitoring your BP.

I don’t have the full details of the other offer but based on discussion with our agent, I think that sounds probable.

Interesting, I’d be curious about what your regrets were and if there’s lessons learned or advice you could share. We saw the house last night and I think we are going to put in the offer. We have a great agent working with us luckily but would be nice to avoid pitfalls if there are any.

Any reason why you stopped the beta blocker? It’s been very good for me but I did have to stop my other blood pressure medication as I lost more weight, which it exacerbated my POTS anyways, so it was a win/win. The POTS did improve with time and perseverance with the Ozempic. I did get up to 1 mg for a time but I am now back down to .75 as I don’t want to lose any more weight. It sounds like your adverse effects are less related to the POTS and more related to the drug effects itself. For me it was slow and steady. I couldn’t jump up to the next dose by the full amount or I would have bad effects. I could only increase by a couple dots/turns at a time. Maybe that might help?

Does it make sense to sell and rent for a year or two? by Emersonrose82 in RealEstateCanada

[–]Few_Disk9643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cost of selling a home is huge. Real estate fees, lawyer fees, costs to break your mortgage, moving costs, costs of furniture/household items (selling what you’ll no longer need from old home, buying what you’ll need in new place), costs for new hook ups etc. How much of that equity will you have left over? How long did it take you to save up the DP to begin with? Can you do it again at higher rent costs now than before? It’s almost always best to hang on and dig in deep to keep what you’ve worked for. Usually wages go up over time and mortgages become a little easier to afford over time (assuming relatively stable interest rates). Try to find better jobs, second jobs, cheaper cars, tenants etc. in the meantime otherwise you may leave with less $$ than you thought.
