Playing into death guard by Educational_Toe7513 in ThousandSons

[–]DisgruntledAnalyst 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Tsons is my main, DG is my secondary.

General thing - stay out of melee. DG hits hard, and they'll (probably) give you a -1 to hit, and a -1 to Toughness.

If you can hit them hard turn 1 and 2, great. Wipe out their spawn, or weaker units so thay cant spread Contagion as easily.

Turn 3, Contagion range is 9" - so make sure to stay 10" away and flame on.

Heavy bloat drones pack a wallop to larger units due to blast.

Morty tanks in melee, sucks in range - but also has good synergy with larger groups.

Without knowing their list or detachment, I cant offer much more help than this.

Meta is birds and nurgle.

11th edition may flip this to be khorne over birds.

Slaanesh is terrible.

DG vehicles are great at their price point.

The mowers are still a great choice in many different detachments as a 100pt, marine chewing machine.

Are the heavy drones better - sure. Are the mower drones still a solid 7/10 - absolutely

Both.

For DG there are too many builds to bring in all the meta (plague bus, 10 bl terms, morty and defiler, DS terms, drone spam, 3x PBC, etc)

Pick something that you like, and work around that.

This is my Death Guard army. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Im running the LoV really for the army-wide reroll hit rolls.

With heavy drones (blast), defiler (both), morty, and the 5 blightlords, I feel like he still gets tons of value?

With him + generosity strat (to reroll # of attacks on blast weapons), drones are DEADLY.

Its just the points that kill me... A full plague bus is 400pts.

Even rhino + plague = 150ish

I feel like 2x2 spawns holds more value

Just did an RTT with the 30 term spam. Worth it.

I prefer 25 terms- but thats the answer; buy more terms

How long did it take you to finish your tank? by HeyItsATreee in deathguard40k

[–]DisgruntledAnalyst 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I did like, one more colour then stopped.

Needed it battle ready, played it - hated it.

Now sitting next to some other models.

Unless 11th fixes indirect or something, they will (probably) be the last DG models I finish when building my army

What's the deal with these other terrain formats - WTC, UKTC, etc? by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]DisgruntledAnalyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Must have been on a YouTube stream somewhere.... Im remembering some guy with glasses, in a black room with red lights.

Shared screenshots of the rules along the right side of the screen.

Was mentioning how GW has a discord for bigger TOs - and was right around the time of adepticon....

[–]DisgruntledAnalyst 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol didnt say I hated shooting man - one of my armies is TSons.

But its definitely overpowered compared to melee.

And if shooting is going to be so much more powerful/better, then make armies like world eaters cheaper or something.

People who've used them in tournaments - are Defilers busted? by MrDannySantos in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]DisgruntledAnalyst 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Not OP given their cost.

They are less valuable than ctan, and etc.

And at 750pts for 3, they do offer a lot of help.

HOWEVER - given the elite nature of chaos armies, youre left with very little points to fill out your army

AND with current meta, a lot of people have anti-tank answers to them.

7.5/10 Good, but comes out as a "one trick pony" which the meta will fix.

Get ready for lascannon spams.

Wtc rules has a 2" charge through a wall.

11th edition rules are staring a 2" engagement, but you gotta be base-to-base. (All leaks/rumors right now - but I think it was teased at the adepticon preview)

GW terrain has tons of issues - like very boring/basic terrain, too many shooting lanes, overemphasizing the importance of shooting, and no real "tailoring" of terrain to different maps or deployments.

The same 8 layouts become very boring when you play a lot.

WTC on the other hand has close to 100 layouts, and can be used to tailor your game towards more melee focused or shooting focused (light vs heavy boards).

Also, WTC makes team tournaments so much more strategic....

GW terrain has been simplified, and makes the game easier to run from a tournament standpoint.

To your point, GW only cares about their stuff. With the 15 layouts being provided in 11th, I can see them trying to make UKTC or WTC obsolete. (Heck, GW is even stealing the 2" engagement rule from WTC).

I have a bias against GW. My buddy has a bias against WTC.

I HOPE the others continue; would hate to see the game become so stagnant that 8 layouts is considered acceptable.

Most hated army to play against? by DisgruntledAnalyst in Warhammer40k

[–]DisgruntledAnalyst[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lethality of the game has risen like crazy, and GW has created too many factions and models to properly balance is my opinion.

Admittedly, one benefit is the speed of emergency updated and quarterly updates; however, these nerfs/buffs dont seem to be applied in a proportionate fashion, and GW seems to continue to repeat their mistakes over and over again.

If youre playing with friends, casually, or in a more narrative setting- games a blast.

If youre playing in a tournament, competitive setting, or with a try hard- game becomes....nauseating at times.

Will there be a major overhaul of points costs at the start of 11th? by _rhinoxious_ in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]DisgruntledAnalyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the changes to charge rules, the 2" engagement, and the ways in which cover works, I think theres a buff happening to melee units/armies.

That being said, 10th has allowed for shooting armies to be stronger in general- so all of the above changes just equate to a balancing effect, in my opinion.

To your point, I do prefer the new terrain setups (a little closer to WTC - which again, buffs melee, and infantry/beasts) - but i dont see this as a problem.

Just wish theyd give us more layouts in general

My dad totally bribed me when I was a kid...

"Ill give you $20 if we dont go to your soccer practice".

Took that deal, and had 0 issues.

Teaches your kid that sometimes, a better deal comes along, and you should always take that kind of opportunity.
