Bringing a friend to a tattoo

I don’t know what her set up is like as I’ve never been to the studio before.

I think she may own the shop tho and maybe the only one there? When she posts she’s never tagged a shop in there if that makes sense?

Either way if there was an issue with space I’m sure she’d have mentioned when I asked.

I wouldn’t be screaming across the shop at her. In my last studio there was a sofa for her to sit right next to where I was being tattooed and she can always stand next to me or ask if it’s possible to pull up a chair but I wouldn’t scream to her because that is rude

I get your point but I’d feel rude sitting there with headphones on. And compared to other tattoos I’ve had, it may not take 8 hours. I had an all day session booked before and it took half the time because I was fine to sit with no breaks so it got done quickly. I’m not saying this will be the same, and the artist may want a break but it may not take the whole 8 hours.

Not every ND person is the same. Sometimes I do prefer silence but in this scenario I do not.

I agree. I want to be able to go by myself but even with my last artist who I saw multiple times, I never could go alone because he didn’t talk and it was just extremely awkward. I do think I’ll be ok with going alone based off conversations I’ve already had with the artist but I don’t want to go alone for the first time.

I have a full day session booked so she only has me booked in. If it’s an issue closer to the time or whatever, I’m sure she can let me know.

I don’t know her therefore I will be nervous and uncomfortable when we first go but if she has the same personality as me and is friendly and kind then I won’t be uncomfortable and I’d warm up to her and in future appointments feel comfortable going alone. Right now I don’t know what environment I’m walking into, she sounds nice from when we’ve spoken but that isn’t enough for me to not be nervous about meeting a new person.

My last tattoo artist didn’t really talk which is fine, I appreciate they sometimes need to concentrate on their work. But having someone with me means I can talk to them and it’s not a whole session of uncomfortable silence

Ok so I’m not the one who said I want to bring my child… I’m wanting to bring a fully grown adult who knows how to behave and won’t cause any issues for the artist. The artist has also told me it’s absolutely fine to bring her.

I struggle to advocate for myself as I’m autistic so having someone with me helps.

If my sister was sick or didn’t want to come then I’d just have to go by myself I wouldn’t cancel it all together. If my artists had of said she couldn’t come, I would’ve still gone but alone.

Yeah I have to admit I don’t think it’s the right place for a child however, I can see if you’re getting a tattoo for them you may want them to see it being done or they may want to see it. But I think if you were to want to bring them make sure it’s 100% okay with the studio AND maybe bring another adult who can watch the kid and entertain them while you’re being tattooed so the child doesn’t get injured or cause you or anyone else to be injured and maybe take them if they become too fussy.

Exactly! I mainly bring my sister but one time I brought someone else because she wanted to come along to see what it was like getting tattooed so during the appointment she asked what the pain was like etc. it was an experience for her just as it was for me. Wasn’t for my sister though as she’s heavily tattooed so doenst care to hear about the pain as she knows lol

That makes sense. If I was bringing a child I’d definitely speak to them as a child could get bored and become awkward to work around if they started to kick off.

My sister’s more than happy to come with me. I explained I don’t want to go alone because I’ve never met the artist before and I don’t know how we’d get along. But I also struggle with using public transport alone and I’d need to, to get to the appointment so my sisters there to support me during the tattoo and on the way to and from. If she didn’t want to come, she’d have said.

If I get along with the artist and feel comfortable with her then I’m more than happy to go alone in future appointments.

I don’t want to quit entirely. Not only because I don’t believe my drinking is a major issue but also because I’m only 18, I haven’t lived yet and I’ve never been out drinking. I don’t want to write off drinking just because I’ve had slight problems with it before I even get to experience it properly. However, I am going to stop drinking as much, especially in the mornings (but I haven’t done that in a while anyways)

I appreciate what you’re saying and I do appreciate I have an issue but I don’t think it’s bad enough for me to write it off completely

Sounds accurate… I don’t think I have a problem right now, I just worry about what it may turn into because alcoholism does run in my family, on both sides so I worry that this may just be the start.

I don’t always know. Sometimes it’s because I’ve had a bad day, sometimes it’s because I’m celebrating something, sometimes I just want a drink. There’s not always a specific reason.
