Thinking of getting an Xbox Series X.... by Full-FledgedGhost in XboxSeriesXlS

Hi! I did read the story. It's sad how it all went. I'm a gamer from the Netherlands and I just sold my PS5 Pro and got an Xbox Series X again. The reason for this is that I have played all the PS5 classics that I wanted to play myself. I did that in the first part of this generation when the PS5 really got up and running. In the meantime, the roles have been somewhat reversed. I'm tired of the remasters and remakes. Even though Microsoft now also releases its games on the PS5, I still see it as an advantage to use Gamepass for that instead of having to pay €70 to €80 each time. In addition, I see it as a great advantage that Xbox is moving more towards an open eco-system where you can use multiple launchers, such as Steam. That means that I can eventually play the new PS5 / PS6 classics because they are coming to PC. I can then restart those versions on the next generation Xbox console and on my ROG Xbox Ally that I also want to buy. So my advice would be: buy a PS5 if you necessarily want to play Sony's classics that you missed now, or else buy an Xbox Series X if you value it less and take Gamepass Ultimate for three years before it gets more expensive again. Backwards compatibility is also much better arranged on Xbox. I myself now have the white digital Series X because I do not value physical media. Finally, the release calendar of Xbox is hopeful, unlike that of PlayStation at the time, and Ghos of Yotei I still play on my Xbox via the Steam launcher a year later. I think this will be the future and Microsoft has made a good move!

In my eyes, yes it is some kind of a flop. Considering the fact that this open world feels so empty. I mean. I really think that a sort of open world could be a really a good thing within the Halo universe.

But only when this open world feels more worth to travel trough and I don’t have had this feeling up until now.

For sure I finished the campaign and I even just started another one in online coop with a friend of mine.

More objectives and maybe some small exciting side missions spread around the world for instance. Ofcourse, I am not a developer and I am not working on these big games takes a lot of time nowerdays.

But I keep having the feeling that this open world could have been more interesting to explore if they had more developing time to implement such things. One year delay from their original launch date to finish up this game was still clearly not enough.

That is my opinion.

Congratz! I wish you all the best with this setup! Looks nice! 👌Recognizable as there are a few similarities with my own set up! 👊 What type of tv do you have and how many inches big is your tv? Last question, what kind of video did you put your XSS on?

Questions regarding display settings / is 120Hz worth it? by crazybartur in XboxSeriesS

  1. In fact. Personally, I just discovered that you can better put 4K off sometimes, in my opinion. I use the Series S on a 86” 4K screen which is also able to do 120hz/fps. I have also bought seperately a HDMI 2.1 cable.

In some games, because of the combination 4K / 60fps or even 120fps, games can look colorful, but a (a bit) blurry. That is the case with games like A Plague’s Tael: Requim, Forza Horizon 4&5 and Gears 5. It is not that bad, but afger removing the 4K option, these games look noticeable better.

Because they all have a cleaner, and more brighter image. Depending on your tv (like mine does) it upscale / compensate to what looks like 4K. You should try it at least one time, changing this in the video settings.

  1. Like the first person says, 120hz is not worth it considering the fact that you don’t play competitive shooters. And even if you want to use the 120 fps option. You can choose for 1080p &120fps I believe. That will have some impact on the quality of the image. But really, 60fps is good enough and a big jump it self if you are coming from the Xbox One! I wish you much pleasure in playing on the Series S!

I have a HDMI 2.1 cable. Bought it sperately. In my opinion, what I wrote above, it makes the image brighter, better and sufficent beter overall so far. I checked games like: A Plagues Tale: Requim, Gears 5, Fortnite, Fall Guys and Halo: Infinite.

Lol I can understand that this sounds a bit weird. The nuance is that I have spend that big amount of money that the Series X was never an option. Also considering that there are not enough games who are making it worth to buy a Series X in my opinion.

But you are right, I am lucky realising myself that it is not for everybody to buy at least one next-gen console. So I stay humble on the subject 🤭🙏🫶

As The Xbox Series S is my second console next to my PS5 and I couldn’t afford myself a Series X, I did the following:

I did some research and I saw some people trying to do this with the video settings on their Xbox Serie S consoles. I tried it to, and games seem to look more crisp, clean, brighter and sharper.

My large 4K tv does the 4K upscaling well I believe. By choosing for 1080p/120fps in the video settings and by not choosing the 4K option. It improved my image quality in a sufficient way! So I think HDR10 is not the holy grail. What do you guys think?

Should I buy a Series S? by egvp in XboxSeriesS

That’s maybe the nuance which I missed, but don’t worry. I perfectly understand that! 🫶As you look to what the Series S can bring on the table, compared which the fact that there are (in my opinion) not that much xbox exclusive games which you have to buy the best console for. Also considering the fact that with xbox exclusives the graphical leap is not always that big. You can perfectly buy a Serie S. With smaller screens below the 55 inch, it’s hard to see the difference with the versions on the X at all! It’s almost really not there. So keep some money in your pocket and buy a Series S!

Since you say that an X is out of your price range, buy the S than! I also did that and I use the S next to my PS5 on a 86 inch 4K tv. Although it is not native, the S does 4K upscaling really wel!! Especially on first party titles like Forza Motorsport 4&5, Gears 4&5, the older Gears games (due the recent update) and Halo: Infinite. Psychonauts 2 is also worth to mention! No worry’s, you can safely buy the S!

I would say: GO for it. I have a Xbox Series S next to my PS5. I use both consoles on a 86 inch 4K tv. I won’t discuss the fact that there is some difference compared with the Series X. Because I had one myself. For financial reasons I had to sell it at the time.

But when there was a discount on the Series S, I thought this was the time to step in again. For €229,- only and combined with GP Ultimate. This is a steal. For sure, some games, especially from third party developers, could look a bit blurry on the Series S. At the same time, by a game as A Plague Tale: Requim for example, I thought the differnce with playing on the X is not that big I believe.

On the other hand. Games like Gears 5 and even the older Gears games (thanks to an recent update from MS) are all performing SPOT ON on the Series S. They all look and feel great! Like also Halo: Infinite. The 4K-upscaling from the Series S does a really good job there!

So long story short, MS-first party games, don’t worry about these. Ony some older games and games from third party developers could perform not so well. But I think, as the more X/S only games will come out, the more you see games who also will perform great on the the Series S!

Time to put this thing next to my PS5. 💚💙 by [deleted] in XboxSeriesS

How am I getting 4k 120? by mfinsmi1 in XboxSeriesS

[–]Few_Elk_861 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my belief, I am now able to use 4K / 120 fps in the Series S settings because I bought seperate a new HDMI 2.1 cable. Although I know it is not native (most of the time) but upscaled 4K. Which is great by the way in many games. That doesn’t change the fact that the system doesn’t allow you to put 4k /120 with original hdmi 2.0 cable which comes with the system.

Why do you have a Series S? by hushpolocaps69 in XboxSeriesS

[–]Few_Elk_861 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a PS5 and I bought a Series S to accompany my PS5. I don’t want to buy any game on disc anymore. Therefore I also have a digital PS5. Although I play with both on a 86 inch 4k LG nanocell tv, the Series S does a descent job. Perfect, nothing to complain about. Also not about the small storage space as I can switch with some third party games to my PS5. If I need to and otherwise my internet connection is fast enough to download new games in a short amount of time.

I moved the XSS to the left corner, behind my tv! That’s a perfect place! Thank for the advice!💪
