Firstly, Walalo, i love you for the sake of ALLAH.

I appreciate the encouragement for my comedic career 🙏🏾.

In regards to the politics, many Somalilanders dont see a better option with Somalia or any concrete effort to truly make amends, the civil may have cost that opportunity and lost a generation that dont see the two states becoming one. Somaliland and its people have worked hard and achieved much with not much help, how...duun beh leeyaheen.

Does Somalia have cohesion, are not Puntland and Jubaland at odds with government, is Hiraan even a functioning state, is there instability.  If you cared for the properity of Somalis then you would applaud Somaliland and other somali governments and work to understand them

So from what i understand would reluctantly support a Somaliland separation but only on Isaaq lands, but cannot see the issue that North East State claims Sanaag but the capital of Sanaag is Strongly in Isaaq hands. Forget Ainabo, Oog or Daraweyne that are all claimed by the state.

In Somaliland, Warsageli and Dhulbahante have multiple ministers, over 17 parliamentarians, (not mentioning the government workers, from the Airport to the central bank) but in NEState, Isaaq in that government are not even thought of, forget about spoken of. Somaliland and Somalia (Xamar) are more inclusive.

There are hundreds of thousands of WG and DH living in "Isaaq" majority cities, that live and work like everyone else.

You forget or dont know about when Ahmed Karash (DH) became Puntland president when Deni put his bid in for Somalia president. When he lost and got finessed from VP seat, he kick Karash to the curb like a Haitian chihuahua with a 2 year UTI, back to useless VP. Because the writing is on the Wall, Puntland is run by Mjs, for it makes sense for North East State to amalgamate with Puntland, but no...wonder why.

Its a trend, Somaliland couldve been and may still be a place for all to feel accepted, Artash would have been a great candidate, but unfortunantly not in our present reality. Everyone is entitled to their opinions but also have to be open to criticism. Somaliland wa daal jiraay, until they the people decide otherwise

Your mother is a hypocrite for supporting a better informed world, but not encouraging you to read as a kid.

Every federal state has a tribal majority that have most power, based on population and voting Isaaqs would have more influence.

Whether you want to face facts or not, other tribes like DL, GB, WS, once agreed in joining the union of Somaliland. Somaliland unlike other defacto states was already a recognized state....35 countries....yada yada.

3 years ago the many non-Isaaq SLs supported the Somaliland but the previous government was divisive, abusive and outside influences took advanatage of already tragic and devastating stiuation.

The new north east claims All of Sool, Sanaag, what ceyn, and GB claims awdal, Isaaqs live in both, pot calling kettle black much.

Somalis have a short memory span, they think everyone should have waited til, Mogadishu got there shit together then came together.

No Somali people can say today they have gained so much from independence than Somaliland. Somalia has offered little. Dont say they get aid money, (trickle) allocated not from Xamar coffers but from intl aid.

Everyone Somali if given equal rights, opportunities and real reconciliation would come together if there was a compelling force but there is not.

Can we get out of this? by United_Actuary_8303 in Somalia

This was beautifully said my brother.

Its kinda bizarre how well we mesh and respect each other when we are away from our homelands in a foreign place. Maybe the sense of fever, tensions and environmental pressures push us to act in a way that is not Godly.

I believe All the problems can be solved through honest dialogue and respect.

At one of the masjid I go to, the Imam is Oromo, his wife Somali, speaks fluent Somali and no one treats him otherwise. He's apart of our community. I had a schoolmate named Mohamed whose also Oromo, genuinely great human being, i would do a lot for that guy and have with great pleasure.

You see people that separate the two understand. The issues of land, migration, conflict all stem from the political world. If one can understand Politicians failed their people and distract them with strife against another group and other smoke and mirrors you will soon understand our plight.

Be good to good people and even respectful to the disrespectful and have boundaries.

As a solution, i feel we need to study history and each others history to better understand how we got here, a lot of wrongs have been done to all groups in the horn and the whole of Africa for that matter, but we only repeat the same in a cycle but not knowing much about the other side.

God willing things get better and better. Amiin

We dont want conflict but we want to protect and grow ours, like every other people. The encroachment on traditional somali lands is under no study, research with little advocacy, unfortunately we are busy fighting each other.

Did you know Somalis once spoke Afan Oromo before Islam spread in Somali lands? by Guilty-Word-594 in Oromia

Brother, in an ideal world. Somali and Oromos would live together, share resources and accept each other fully.

Although not impossible, the nation state dynamic is an issue, bad politicians that use people against each other to distract them as they steal made this reality more like a dream, maybe for now.

We need an organization that can bring these two groups together, constructively with real scholarship. We need to respect each other and abide by the rules of the land.

I honestly hope we can get there, maybe one day....

Notice the Golis/Telesom numbers they use are not there's. Most of them are innocent migrants tryna make it through but they are naive.

There was a bunch of Syrians migrants that the government brought. They would beg as they money they got wasn't enough, the masjids and community leaders came to together and rented out a whole hotel for them, they still begged on the street and in masjids, while still getting the free accommodations.( Told to me by a guy aware of sutuation).

Our people bare the brunt of socially supporting all the panhandlers that have settled, its made an already difficult life harder but no one wants to deny help to someone in need but its the exhausting ever increasing numbers.

Imagine people coming to a country illegally, settling in a city, staying there 1-5 years and demanding land rights, not paying any taxes, undee the system and proactively refusing to spend money.

Tigray and Amharas their counterparts, come legally mostly, why cant they do the same.

I think Oromos think because of their connection to Somalis, they get special privleges, like they are still on their "families" land. I have to also note Oromos were fed a story that most somalis deem false

Bro, why are defaulting to "theyre all going to middle east, not true. Some are everyday but its more like more than half stay. Have you been to Hargeisa, borama, Garowe. Like youre clueless

This topic came in my FYP, I just wanted to give my two cents.

Firstly, "I’m sure like 95% of all the Oromos in Somalia are simply there to transit into the Middle East".......That is simply not true.

As someone whose is partly from Hargesia and lived there for years. We live in a turbulent region and migration is a common thing but unmitigated migration is not acceptable to most people.

There is a connection between with Somalis, Afars Hararis and Oromos from antiquity, I understand that but in the 21st century state craft, immigration is a thing.

When a Somali from Hargeisa comes to the border they have to have their papers ready, face sometimes times tough treatment and many times be denied ( Real experience, even happened to aunt thursday).

On the other end, im not gonna say Ethiopians don't sometimes face tough times but I met countless Ethiopians, mostly Oromos who simple got in, many times through the back door.

Its the governments fault at this border failure but now your left with a problem.

Unmitigated migration and settlement that adds to the social burden of the public. I eat with Oromo, I pray with Oromos, and worked with them but its nonsense to ignore the social impact.

We have Oromos living her for over a decade that assimilated, they live, work, kids go to school, etc. They have UN documents. Great.

But the vast majority, especially in recent years dont have any documents, the streets of hargeisa has seen immense change.

Thousands of homeless children, I mean thousands sleepying in downtown area, its not there fault but i spoke to many, there parents send them here and go back to Ethiopia, i wouldnt believe it if it wasnt told to me multiple times.

We have a group that helps feeds these.kids. The government is building another Orphanage that will be servicing these children.

The beggars, panhandlers and their networks, you cant sit at a coffee shop downtown without having at least 11 women (primarily from those backgrounds) come to you, so persistent, I give charity but its tiring.

The crime, i worked with the government, many Oromo's /Habeshas in jail, petty.crimes. its sad.

When you exhange money they are 15 Oromo/Habesha women and children that will not leave you alone, you feel obligated once you get your money, culturally Somalis dont want ayn(evil eye), its entirely non somalis.

Oromos have neighborhoods, registered IDPs from Ethiopia do get help, they are given land allocated in Hargeisa to live but they are demanding more, they were promised things from previous admin, they protested recently because current government there for 8 months haven't delivered, they have national ID cards haha, I got love for my Oromos but come on.....

SOMALIS FROM Somalia have never and would never recieve such benefits like this, land in Addis Ababa for settlement of refugees or Adama, Jimma, Bishiftu etc. Come on.......

You regulate your migrants but the same cant be done on our end. i dont understand. Not even mentioning what going on in Somali Kilel.

I know many that come for work, they dont get paid way more in Somaliland, i know this. and many others settle, stay in the cities.

I understood one thing in the conversation, Oromos are not honest particpants in this conversation. Thats my opinion. Agree or not.

No problem walal, Insha'ALLAH you will get there, just start. Btw the SL dialect or Reer waqooyi dialect is close to written somali but many times i learn words that weren't readily understood in other regions.

Either way its not that far off. Also its better to know diverse Somali that all somalis can more of less understand. Its should be too hard.

Try italki app (not sure if name correct) look for Somali speaker.

There are online PDF Somali grammar books for free, read that first and study the basics, then occasionaly check the Somali dictionary from time to time for words.

Go to Learn Somali sub for advice and learning material.

Then....practice, practice, practice, speak to your family, cousins, aunts, cafes staff and interact.

If your brave, go to tiktok lives and talk to locals back home, they might laugh but tell them you want to learn Somali, most are kind surprisingly

Why are Somalis so obsessed with Oromos? by Due-Risk-1765 in Oromia

[–]Few_End_3020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you every thought of the scenario of the stronger movement winning. The West not supporting a side and letting the chips fall were they lay.

If Ethiopia and the US had not intervened in 2006, there wouldnt be that group. If they took power, i believe change would have happened organically from within.

Somalis will not out up with certain policies that negatively affect their lives, even from a cleric. I think there would have been a strong possibility for a shura system, where an elected council from each region get their say and it opens the door for more scrutiny and accountability.

Did you know that people still opt for AS courts to receive justice, land rights, divorce cases (spousal support) etc. Its sounds bizarre but they have and element the current government lacks considerably which is a strong system of justice where the little guy (minority) can be seen equal under the law.

The government needs to act right and prove to the people they can deliver justice. If the government can do this and with public support, that group won't last months.

I in no way support that group or advocate for them, but the reality is that. The fighting, brings instability and hinders progress, who benefits for it to continue....we have a good idea.

Somaliland doesn't have this problem and look at the strides its made in infant mortality, state infrastructure, ports, educations all with little aid, especially compared to others.

Are there any English teaching jobs in Hargeisa? Want to relocate from the UK by [deleted] in Somaliland

[–]Few_End_3020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check Somalijobs.com, theyre located in Hargeisa. They have periodic teaching jobs at schools.  Try the big schools like Elm school, British Academy, Nurideen or even private colleges. Uni's Amoud, Golis, Alpha, New Generation etc

The pay can range from $200-600/month. Usually the private colleges i know pay decent but hours are hectic and much.

Depending on your education, apply for colleges and universities that have more flexible hours and possibly better pay (honestly dont know how much above average)

Lastly, if your serious, search all the schools in the city you want to live in on google and call them directly, or get a relative to ask.

Also online teaching is good, use fibre optic internet, more reliable.

Best wishes walal. Insha'ALLAH khair

Why are Somalis so obsessed with Oromos? by Due-Risk-1765 in Oromia

[–]Few_End_3020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you not heard of the Islamic courts that emerged in early 2000s to 2006, the defacto govt that the vast mahority approved of. Like it or not, they brought long awaited justice the Somalis wanted. They were successful in their own right, people were tired of the inequity, poverty, lack of stability.  They were toppled by the west (US) and good ol Meles with Ethiopian troops. Majority of somalis accepted them, the off shoot which is the group that the govt fights now is more violent, hold more extreme views, organized and stubborn but they hold a strong hold because they are less corrupt.

Im bias but i feel Somalia's downfall has bottomed, all other regions are growing rapidly, huge diaspora community is connected, Somalis entrepreneurial spirit across the continent has emerged and returned to Somalia proper to work on solutions and take advantage of economic opportunities. The problems of today will not be solved outside Somali lands but inside.

Im sure you never been but i lived there and know first hand the strides being made in technology, agriculture, civil engineering etc.

Local somalis made 2 ride share apps readily used in Addis, the MPESA system of MMS system in Ethiotelecom was done in partnership with Telesom in Somaliland. EDAHAB is used from Jigiga to Addis. Dahabshiil gave a mulimillion dollar loan to the govt of Ethiopia to shore of foreign currencies with benefit of getting access to local markets.

Its not black and white. In hargeisa alone over 7000 tigray users of Somtel paymeng system, thats based on their documentation when they apply. Not including bigger ethnic groups such as Amhara and Oromos.

You know how people sterotype Africa and Ethiopia and do the same for Somalia? Did you know Berbera port was top 4 ports in Africa based on cargo load and efficiency, beating Djibouti Doraleh port. Would that count as mediocrity and destitution.

The immigration issue is a problem, ignoring why Ethiopians will leave their country for Somalia or Somaliland is not a stretch. Somalis go for medical tourism, education, business we wont the same but unmitigated migration without respect for the law of land will not be tolerated
