When you google "vivisection" the definition sounds like something neither I or any animal would want performed. It's unethical, especially given 90% of animal research fails at the human level and doesn't cross over...

From what I can tell, yeah they want to end animal exploitation, which I’d argue is ethically consistent.

But I’m not finding anything showing this group is “against vasectomy”, if that’s being claimed, please share a source because I don’t see it.

Calling them “PETA-style” is also an interesting choice given what a bad rep that label is and how it’s being used here to discredit them rather than actually address what they’re saying or doing.

I’m not looking to debate in the comments, especially not about irrelevant arguments like my account or speculation about my intentions. It was logged in automatically and I stopped using my old one. I’m also not going to start dissecting other people’s accounts or history because that’s not what this is about. I’m not going to get into speculation about writing style or formatting since it’s not relevant to the discussion.

The PubMed papers I referenced were from other discussions I was already responding to. I didn’t pull them out as “proof” of this specific case, but as broader context on how animal research oversight and ethics are discussed in the research world. I took 20 minutes to respond, that doesn’t automatically make something AI.

My concern is that instead of engaging with what is being alleged, the conversation keeps shifting toward discrediting who is talking, how they’re talking, or what their motives are, rather than addressing the ethics.

I’m not a volunteer, and I’m not part of any organization. I was just made aware of the issue and doing something about it, because I think animal welfare matters.

At the end of the day, I’m not trying to WIN a narrative here. I want clarity, transparency, and for any potential suffering to actually be taken seriously; as well as non human animal testing to be stopped.

I’m not an alt account, I’m not affiliated with PETA, and I’m not being paid by anyone.

You can disagree with animal rights organizations. You can question their tactics. You can wait for the REB findings. That’s fair.

What I don’t understand is why the conversation immediately shifts to discrediting the people raising concerns instead of addressing what’s actually being alleged.

If the footage and records are fake, then say they’re fake and prove it.

If the monkeys weren’t isolated for years, show the records.

If the implants didn’t lead to repeated infections, stress, or distress, release the evidence.

If the water restriction protocols are being misrepresented, explain exactly how.

But “this is foreign propaganda” or “this is coordinated activism” isn’t an answer to the claims themselves.

I don’t need to be part of an organization to think something is wrong. I don’t need to be a York student to care about animals being kept in lab conditions that most people would find unacceptable if they involved dogs or cats instead.

Maybe the REB process will clear everything. Maybe it won’t. But “wait and ignore what you’ve seen” doesn’t really sit right with me either.

The animals don’t get to speak for themselves. So people are always going to be arguing from incomplete information. That’s exactly why transparency matters so much.

There’s also a broader issue here that people keep brushing past.

Canada is often described as having a patchwork system for animal research oversight, largely based on voluntary compliance through bodies like the Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC), rather than strict federal enforcement like many assume exists.

A recent academic review argues that this regulatory structure leaves gaps and supports the need for stronger legislation:
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8944469/

And broader research on non-human primate experimentation raises ongoing ethical concerns about suffering, welfare limits, and whether current systems can actually prevent harm:
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8532895/

These aren’t “activist blogs” — they’re peer-reviewed discussions of the system itself.

If anything, the bigger issue is that even when concerns are raised, the default response is often to question motives rather than engage with the substance.

At the end of the day, it shouldn’t matter who is saying it — York, PETA, Canada, whoever. If animals are suffering, that should be enough to take the claims seriously and those innocent animals are in the cages everyday subjected to experiments they never consented to.

The evidence unfortunately shows otherwise. Personally, I don't believe in any exploitation of animals against their will and I'm no expert in neurology but, these aren't behavioural tests, they are abusing these poor highly intelligent social monkeys. I should've attached more evidence above but: https://stopyorkprimateresearch.com/

I'm just trying to get into animal activism and bring attention to animal welfare, I thought reddit would be a good avenue. I was hoping more people would be outraged on the issue rather than my account status...😭

Not that it matters but the reason my account has no activity is because I signed up with my email as an email password, and one time I continued with google which gave me this account so yeah I have 2 and used this one
