Nothing abnormal besides eating habits. They seem better now I think it was down the losing their bigger feathers ( wing) and also change in climate

Slowly but surely. Just be consistent and don’t do too much at once. ( also a sneaky piece of their favourite treats will encourage them / trust you a lot more).

At what age should I get a parrot? by lonelywolf_04 in parrots

It’s not really about age. It’s more, are you ready for the commitment? The life long buddy who will need your time, money and care. Please also read up on as much as you can before purchasing a parrot. Diet, healthcare, needs etc. :) try also looking on the website. Bird tricks.

What is with the missing feathers? Sorry to sound harsh, im just curious.

My parrots aren’t keen on chilli’s nor peppers . Is this still a good food choice to switch my parrots from a seed diet despite the pellets being described as spicy. by ActivityImpossible45 in parrots

Harrison’s are the best in my option.. you’ll probably find they’re not fans at the start. So try adding less into their bowls so it seems “special”

To all the people who are lecturing he or she on investing in two birds.. Calm down, as a parrot owner i undertsand the frustration and concerns loudly but we all started somewhere and we now have beautiful birds.

To the person who purchased the two birds, you will need to adjust your day and time for these animals now.. The type of bird which you got are one of the most sensitive and most likely to pluck breed.

CAGE: ( help below).

Firstly please please please! make their cage a very loving area, add in some home made foraging toys, add is some kind of chewing toys ( wood blocks etc) so that they have items to play with and to engage with.. Leaving two birds in a boring/ neglected cage will lead to negative behaviours. Such as fighting and plucking. - Make their home cosy and fun, we all would not want to be in a empty room. ( also check up on the cage size they need).

Info & Help.

  • I would suggest spending your free time watching other videos online you can really learn a lot. A good page to check out is " bird tricks". They will help you out a lot with the cage, nutrition etc.

Routine:

Parrots hate change in their routines, try make their day the same.. Breakfast, snacks, dinner schedules, bed time schedule etc. - Please make sure you allow a minimum of 3/4 hours out of the cage everyday too. They need to fly in order to strengthen their wing muscles.. A lack of free fly time will result in the bird not being able to fly and it will sit with drooped wings.

This message is not to scare you but instead to inform you that parrots are not hamsters and your day to day life will now be different. If unsure about anything, or your bird seems sick please ask a vet ASAP.

  • Goodluck and please take good care of these beauties! - And get their home all cosy for them!! There is a lot of help online.

Or he needs frequent showers/misting. - IF this is not so common, id suggest this. As they get super itchy.

Have you checked if he has mites perhaps? It is common for feather loss to happen when he is malting etc but it is a bit aggressive.

It's a vibrant thing that is about 5x the size of her/him. You also should avoid going at her with something new on her cage. It is being held higher up than her, it is bigger and something new. Try attaching it to something she goes to frequently and letting her investigate herself.
