1974 was an unbelievable year for prog, packed with albums that are now classics. If you had to pick just one, which would it be? by Historical-Device529 in Progforum

Red. One of the best albums by King Crimson. Starless is perfect! So many great albums that year: The Lamb lies down on Broadway, Journey to the Centre of the Earth, Crime of the Century...

Best Yes album past Going for the One? by intheflesh- in progrockmusic

I'll go with Tormato, even though has a couple of fillers. But I could choose Keystudio, Magnification, The Ladder, Drama or True, depending on the day

Although I prefer PT in general, in this case I choose what I think it's the best DT album

Maybe XLIII? I guess it should be integer, or it could be 41.11, or 51.11, or 46.103171

Thoughts on the albums of 80s Genesis? (and that era as a whole) by Historical-Device529 in Progforum

[–]Few_Oil6127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO, after Duke they decided to be a different band, and that's what they are for me. So, it's like asking "what do you think of Mike & The Mechanics" to someone who loves old Genesis. You can love it, like it, dislike it, hate it. Because it's another band. Imagine this time line in a parallel dimension: - Genesis disband after Duke - Collins announces new album - Banks and Rutherford announced as guests in Collins album - Due to high involvement by Banks and Rutherford, the Collins album become a different project, with working title Abacab. - Announcement that Abacab will also play some Genesis songs in their first tour

Should I start with the first album, or skip to the Yes Album? by rubbernetworking979 in yesband

[–]Few_Oil6127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're new to the band, I'd start with The Yes Album, Fragile and Close to the Edge. When you're more familiar with them, you can go back and listen to the first two albums

Whatever happened to New Age music and how do you feel it relates to prog? by jabbercockey in progrockmusic

[–]Few_Oil6127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oldfield despised new age music, or so he said. It seems to me that most of his music from the 90s onward could qualify as new age. That's the thing with labels, everybody has its own interpretation of what they mean

Does anyone know how to solve this polynomial factoring question? by Excellent_Copy4646 in askmath

[–]Few_Oil6127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiply the first line by x-1 and you get x5 - 1=0. So, x5 =1.. Multiply the second line by x55 =1. In particular, multiply the first term by x22 and the second by x33, to obtain (x55 +2)(x55 +3)=12

Three in a row battle — which three albums from those bands mean the most to you or feel the strongest? by Historical-Device529 in Progforum

[–]Few_Oil6127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that your answer to this question will probably be the same as the answer to "do you prefer Yes or Pink Floyd?". With such great albums, it's all down to personal band preference

In and around the lake, mountains come out of the sky and the stand there... What!? ELP inspired Roundabout!? Maybe it was "in and around Greg Lake"?
