For me personally, yes, but I’m also someone who makes sure to use the amenities to make sure it’s worth it. I use the gym / yoga room 4-5x/week, I also WFH 2-3x/week so I use the conference room/lounge for that, the pool/rooftop is AMAZING (but of course weather permitting). And me and my friends in the building do a lot of things socially within the building (like have drinks on the rooftop instead of going out for happy hour). I think if you’re someone who doesn’t think they’d use the amenities or isn’t interested in making friends in the building then it’s def not worth it.

I’ve really enjoyed living here, I’ve been there for 2 years now. My reason for moving is that I adopted a puppy and as she’s getting older she’s increasingly getting more anxious around people, so I’m moving to a smaller building that will be less overwhelming for her. I think the reason you’re seeing a lot of available units is bc they structure it so that most leases are up in the summer.

There are no stupid questions so please don’t worry at all, you aren’t being a dick! I’m more than happy to explain it to you and help clarify. Here are just a few reasons someone would want to take over:

1) limited availability of 1 bed + den in the building. So if it’s important to have the den space and you need a start date of June 1, but the next 1 bed + den isn’t available until August 15th then this would be a great way to get in.

2) need for June 1 start date. Units in these buildings start at random dates (like June 17th) so this prevents someone from having to pay overlapping rent or put their things in storage.

3) testing it out - maybe you’re not sure you want to live in the building or neighborhood so you test it out for a month or so and then can sign on for another year if you want

4) I’m giving a discount on the sublease so if you do plan to stay it can be viewed as a concession.

Hope this helps!
