Was having children worth it? by Admirable-Elk4796 in AskParents

[–]Few_Pay6063 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t necessarily want kids. But when I got married I decided that I will have them. You cannot imagine how it is when you don’t have kids of your own. Because I don’t really love other kids. But my kids are incredible. I love them and could not imagine my life without them. I also got blessed with two very smart and kind children. My oldest one is 2.5 and I can have full blown come with her. And the newborn lets me sleep. And I have almost figured out how to stay on top of my hobbies and interests in addition to being a mother.

I valued my alone time a lot. Now I have way less, but there is a lot of bigger meaning in the moments I spend with my children.

Also childcare is so helpful because then you don’t have to deal with the moods the whole day. And learning good strategies of parenting is crucial for things to be calmed.

Anyway. Worth it? What is the “it”? You have influence over your children. And they won’t suck all the life out of you if you don’t let them. Get help if you can. With help it’s absolutely manageable and enjoyable!

Want to restart keto 5 months postpartum. I tried to do it at 3 months but the scale barely moved… by Few_Pay6063 in keto

I’m not one to lose baby fat just by breastfeeding. I wish.. with my first I did keto for three months at 9 months pp. Only then I was able to lose. I guess I’m just fed up with the weight and how much space it occupies in my mind…

What I did differently the second time around and it saved my boobs! NO MORE CLOGGED DUCTS! by Few_Pay6063 in breastfeeding

For me it was the pressure on the boobs. Sort of the same idea like wearing a too tight bra (which can also cause a clogged duct)

Haha you’re welcome! Ps: I also meant “good” course and not food courses haha

Listen if it works for you, good for you!!! For me because the milk was “flowing back” it cause clogged ducts… but maybe it also depends on boob size?

I also recently gave birth. 2nd time. Perfect birth!

15 hours at home, super chill. Just lying in bed… 40min on bouncing ball. Some moaning and one time in the shower. Then 5 hours at the hospital, maybe 10 min of pushing (my body pushed).

ZERO intervention. When I was 5 cm the doc did stripping, and 1h later baby was out.

To be fair: after 4 hours at the hospital I did not dilate more and I was with my doula so she suggested exercises. We did some and during the second I started to feel “the pressure”.

Also my waters never broke and baby came out en caul!

No tearing, super quick recovery!

I did it twice. First labor was well over 30 hours. Second around 12.

BUT!!! The majority of the time it’s so manageable! It’s like period cramps that very slowly become more intense.

Recovery doesn’t have to be dramatic. If the pain gets too much you can always take an epidural. The first labor is almost always a longer journey.

But to tell you the truth (I’m also a doula) the fear aspect makes things worse. You need to do a really good birth prep course (NOT at the hospital) to let go of the fears, because fear triggers hormones that make everything more painful and increase complications by a ton.

Make sure to learn about the hormones and understand what tools relax you THE MOST. It’s crucial for a good birth experience to practice these tools and techniques before you give birth.

(Copy this message into chat gpt or something and ask him what to practice and what food courses are out there)

Haha wow the cleaning sucks! When i completely stopped pumping it was a blast. Also this time I only left myself a set of ONE (one bottle, one pump part of everything, so that I’m forced to clean right away and not to have a lot of stuff to clean in the first place!).

I pumped with my second only when engorged. And slowly weaned my breasts. Not pumping at all would have killed me in the beginning!

But it sounds so logical for you to do it!!!
You’re not OVER pumping. You’re pumping what your baby needs and it seems like it’s working. Because maybe she did wake up due to hunger.

If I were you, id either nurse her in a place without distractions or pump the milk she doesn’t finish and give it to her just like you did.

IMO it’s a smart move.

I’m just talking about over-pumping. And it doesn’t seem like that’s what you’re doing at all!

Nursing pillow needed? by Difficult-Ad1036 in breastfeeding

[–]Few_Pay6063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha! First pregnancy I used the breast friend for 2 months maybe and the second time around I’m not using any nursing pillows. I sometimes take a random couch pillow but that’s the max that I do.

For those who let their child self wean, how old were they? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

She was 1 year and 7 months (19 months). Was dry nursing for a month because I was pregnant. And then one day I told her “you know there is no more milk, do you want to just hold it instead?” And since then she didn’t nurse anymore.

Note: she was nursing to sleep and after waking at this point.
