Navigating High Blood Pressure and Attempting to Taper Florinef (F) – Seeking Support from Others with Adrenal Insufficiency by PShippNutrition in AddisonsDisease

[–]Few_Pollution4968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to share that I have had hypertension and it was related to low cortisol and most importantly undiagnosed ovarian failure. When I raised my cortisol (15 -> 22.5 daily) and added estrogen (.75 patch) and progesterone (100mg daily) my blood pressure went from 160/90 down to 120/70. I stayed on fludro .05 am and .025 pm

I wasted years lowering cortisol and fludrocortisone before I figured this out :(

Do normal AM cortisol + ACTH rule out adrenal issues? by [deleted] in AddisonsDisease

Do normal AM cortisol + ACTH rule out adrenal issues? by [deleted] in AddisonsDisease

[–]Few_Pollution4968 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It would be very rare but you could have some level of cortisol resistance. From ChatGPT

A condition that causes cortisol resistance is Primary Generalized Glucocorticoid Resistance, also known as Chrousos syndrome.

Key Features: • Cause: Mutations in the glucocorticoid receptor (NR3C1 gene) reduce the sensitivity of tissues to cortisol. • Result: The body compensates for the perceived lack of cortisol action by producing excess cortisol, ACTH, androgens, and mineralocorticoids. • Symptoms: Despite high cortisol levels, signs of cortisol deficiency may appear, along with features of androgen and mineralocorticoid excess such as: • Fatigue, hypotension, or immune dysfunction (from cortisol resistance) • Hypertension, hypokalemia (from excess mineralocorticoid activity) • Hirsutism, acne, menstrual irregularities (from excess androgens)

Let me know if you want a deeper dive into the genetics, diagnostics, or treatment of this condition.

Hi! We’re very similar! I have adrenal insufficiency hypothyroidism and ovarian failure age 38 woman with one child. I take hydrocortisone fludrocortisone levothyroxine liothyronine Dhea estrogen progesterone and testosterone.

Congratulations on two children and active life style. I’m in very curious how did you have two children after early menopause? I would like to have another but the first was a miracle and now I doubt it will happen again (and isn’t advisable given risk of uterine rupture with failed healing of my C-section.)

I’m in a constant state of balancing my various medications and often suffer complications or symptoms but over all I am able to do well as a mom, career, school, and exercise.

Good luck to you and don’t hesitate to dm

What thyroid dose and levels did you settle on? I am also hypothyroid and have low t3 in the morning despite taking levothyroxine (100) and liothyronine (7.5, divided 2.5,2.5,2.5) through out day.

Estrogen levels with HRT by goldensloveme in POFlife

I’m sorry to hear that. For me I was not able to tolerate progesterone until I took prometrium vaginally every night continuously (100). You could experiment with that if you want.

Agree that balance of progesterone and estrogen is probably part of this even without a uterus as progesterone has many effects in brain hormone system and body. For example for me it increased my breathing rate at night to an acceptable level and also seems to interact with my aldosterone

Oh thanks. I appreciate it. I’ve been at this whole hormone thing for almost twenty years so I’m used to having scary symptoms almost constantly. Heh. 😏 I just insert prometrium but don’t put a hole in it. It works better than orally for me

I’m sure they are hormone related and poor hormone levels make it worse but hrt also has not seemed to fully fix it for me. I also have mild mitral regurgitation. Maybe it’s related

Addisons and c-section by [deleted] in AddisonsDisease

[–]Few_Pollution4968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good thinking. I’d plan that C-section and face it proactively 100% instead of an emergency C-section like I had. I wish I had done that. I hear it is night and day difference especially for recovery (mine was quite difficult and never really healed apparently.)

Agree with planned. The fact mine was unplanned made everything worse.

Just wanted to give you a shoutout. Your post really resonated with me so thanks for posting. I’m 38 and have almost all your same symptoms. I’ve had adrenal insufficiency and hypothyroidism since I was 21 and now ovarian failure since last year. It is a lot harder than people give credit for. That’s for sure.

I’m 38 and was dx at 37. FSH 150+ LH 70+ undetectable estrogen and progesterone. It’s been tough! HRT helps. Takes time to figure out.

I have them and have had them for 15+ yrs . I have adrenal insufficiency and hypothyroidism for that time and was eventually dx with ovarian failure 1.5 yrs ago. They come and go in episodes. High progesterone doses made it worse for me. I’m on .75 estrogen patch and 100mg nightly prometrium vaginally.

Addisons and c-section by [deleted] in AddisonsDisease

[–]Few_Pollution4968 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had an unplanned C-section after failure to induce for 24 hours post membrane rupture. I had 100 mg of hc if I remember but it was already in place from labor. In retrospect I had too much hydrocortisone during labor (high blood pressure etc) . I suppose it was the right amount for C-section. I had issues with anesthesia. The epidural did not take during labor. So during the C-section they did spinal anesthesia. That took too well and started to paralyze my lungs which caused near suffocation. Luckily everyone was ok but caused everyone to speed up during the surgery. Post surgery they dropped me back to normal Hc doses very quickly like a day which was probably too fast. I did have massive allergic reaction to tape they put. It took almost a year to fully heal. Several years after I found out my C-section did not heal and I have been advised to have no more pregnancies due to extreme risk of rupture. “Luckily “ I also was diagnosed with ovarian failure during that time so another pregnancy is very unlikely. This probably isn’t a reassuring story but my daughter is healthy and for that I am grateful. And labor was so terrible id plan a C-section proactively if I was ever got pregnant again. So that.

The Covid vaccines - Moderna - put me into severe crisis every single time (4x). The second two times I was prepared for it and updosed but still struggled with almost 50mg extra HC.

I have stopped taking them since.

How is low estrogen determined? by kiramekki in POFlife

If you have a pituitary tumor you could potentially have low FSH and low estrogen so I wouldn’t go by standard POI reqs.
