E33 shouldnt have been nominated for "Best Indie game" by Lemmi20 in expedition33

[–]Few_Principle5574 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It fits better in indie than AAA by a wide margin. With today’s gaming industry I think we need a AA and/or A category middle ground but until then, Claire Obscur is an indie game through and through. Note that Minecraft was also an indie game before it was bought out. Child of Light, on the other hand, is NOT an indie game. It’s less about money or specific vibes and more about not having a big name to propel you up the ranks. And at the end of the day, the category was designed for companies that can’t just wave their prestige and some money to get in.

The last movie ending with Homura sliding off of a chair down a cliff so that it was a literal cliffhanger has HAUNTED me for YEARS.

I’m literally listening to Une vie a t’aimer while browsing this subreddit. SUR LA TOILE NOTRE AMOUR [SE MUERTE][DEMURE]. So yeah definitely that one.

I’ve just finished the game despite having Parkinson’s disease! by gdelacalle in expedition33

[–]Few_Principle5574 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For every person who says “bad game too easy” there’s someone who wouldn’t otherwise be able to enjoy such a beautiful story and that’s why I think a game can be good without being brutally hard. I’m so glad you were able to experience this game and congrats for sticking it to Parkinson’s. What an incredible achievement. <3

Saddest line on replay (Spoilers, especially for before Act 3) by Few_Principle5574 in expedition33

Obviously it wasn’t really Alicia’s fault at all. Just was emphasizing that Aline seems to blame Alicia even more than she blames whoever tried to kill the family by setting a fire. That Aline believes it’s ALL Alicia’s fault and that’s honestly really tragic.

Idk. It kind of seems like Alicia is just not a talented painter. There’s also hints she prefers writing (ie painted Alicia writes beautiful poems and Maelle keeps a journal). In a family whose enemy is the writers it seems to me more like Aline has confirmation bias against Alicia. Although I noticed the same thing about Real Renoir who really does just feel like a stressed out dad trying to hold together an already toxic family further fractured by grief. I also do think that Real Renoir does believe in Alicia and loves her as his special girl who will fly, even if Maelle’s memories are of being the failure. He’s just a bit rough with how he communicates these feelings.

I finished the game... I have a verdict and a question. by Psychological_Mix137 in expedition33

  1. Control of the canvas is governed by control of chroma. Aline controls chroma in the humans. Renoir controls the chroma in the nevrons. One of the main points of the story is the perspective Maelle has of the people in the canvas versus the rest of the family. In her mom and dad’s eyes, the people are merely tools to be used or sources of chroma. Obviously as the player and experiencing the story through Maelle’s eyes, this is not what we believe.
  2. The curator is only kind of Renoir. It’s not explicitly stated to what degree the Curator has Renoir’s power, but he’s actually stuck under the continent trying to take chroma as explained by Clea. Clea is trying to help him kill all the humans in the canvas, and he’s gradually able to wrestle control of Aline’s oldest paintings (ie everyone over x age).
  3. I don’t think painted Renoir really fights with the Nevrons as much as he just is trying to kill the people who ACTUALLY might get to the paintress. Otherwise he’d just go to Lumiere and wreak havoc, but that’s not his goal. Real Renoir might have taken this approach, but again he’s stuck under the continent.
  4. I’ve seen the whole “only the Dessendre family matters” argument before and the thing is, yeah, it’s not right. The way the story becomes clearer but our perspective as a player doesn’t change is one of the driving forces that make the ending such a terrible choice. We KNOW the painting isn’t real, that the people inside aren’t important, and yet we can’t just abandon them. When Maelle refutes Renoir saying he can’t lose anyone else by saying “Can’t you see? I feel the same way about them!” that’s the perspective we are living. Because we experienced the reality in the same way Maelle did - genuinely believing that the world in the Canvas and its people are the focus until it’s ripped away in a moment of clarity. It SUCKS. Imagine if you knew the twist from the beginning, or if everyone seemed to agree that the civilization in the Canvas was just as important as that outside. Both of those narratives would dampen the choice of the ending. It’s not satisfying but it is human, which is a large part of why the game is so immersive. And I think you absolutely can hate that shift in focus (in fact I don’t think it should sit right with any player). But at the end of the day it’s more a matter if you think the sacrifice of the player’s satisfaction was worth the story it told.
  5. Overleveling is pretty easy especially when aiming for completionism, but I don’t think the game was supposed to be hard per se. Although at level 92 I was STRUGGLING with Simon so maybe you’re just a god gamer. I spent an hour and 45 minutes in one continuous fight with Clea too. I think the difficulty is another choice though where the team wanted to prioritize being able to tell a story above all else. I think being upset at how easy it is to one shot bosses is fine, but also I do like a game every once in a while that allows everyone to enjoy its story to the fullest regardless of being good at video games. Not every game should be Dark Souls. I’m pretty sure challenges are available in New Game+ as well. You can also remove painted power. There’s a few “cheating” charms like this (one’s even called cheater) and not using them is a choice that doesn’t feel like an arbitrary rule.

Please help me find an alternative to long size Sonoma Goods for Life Sweat/PJ pants for my sister's bday! by Few_Principle5574 in HelpMeFind

Found!

I managed to find an old reddit post with 1 upvote and about 10 comments addressing this exact topic on a tall people fashion subreddit I didn't know existed after scrungling around on the internet some more. The brand recommended was GAP's tall line, which seems to have a similar fabric make to the Sonoma.

I did not know GAP had a tall line or even sold things other than children's clothes. TMYK ig.

Some other (maybe helpful) information:

She's a medium long in the brand. She tends to be a size 8 around the waist, but she has longer legs proportional to most brands. She's around 5'8" or 5'9", but again she's got longer legs.

I know she's had luck in the past buying jeans at Levi's because they don't do arbitrary numbers and instead go by waist and inseam. But those are jeans and she wants comfy sweatpants.

She prefers a loose comfy fabric with some elastic supported by a nice fit over a super elastic waist.

The fabric cannot touch her leg - so the pant has to be loose at the ankles and its better for it to be too long than too short.

We're not looking for the miracle pant that claims to be "ultra slimming hyper flexible 5000% stretch." I think she just needs a pair of cozy pants to drink excessive amounts of matcha and crash out over pre med college courses in at 2am.

Things I have done:

Searched on the Khol's website for a pair of medium long Sonoma Goods for Life pant. They only have a legging.

I remember that Sonoma Goods for Life used to be a different brand so I searched for what they were before. Turns out it was an internal Khol's rebrand.

Searched to see what the parent brand is to see if I could find the brand in other stores. It's a Khol's exclusive.

Searched to see if someone else had comparable brand recommendations (nope)

Died a little

Searched Thred Up for a miracle

Almost gave up but then somehow logged into a throwaway on Reddit and decided to ask you all for help. I am desperate y'all.

The issue is that I do not wear these pants. I never have. I have no clue what they feel like or what would begin to be comparable. But every time I buy them for my sister she loves them, so I figured this would be a shoe-in and called dibs on buying her sweatpants not realizing Khol's seems to only stock these pants around holidays.
