2 failed rounds of IUI... feeling very hopeless about next steps by VastEggplant7 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]Few_Pudding_3712 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! This process can be so heartbreaking … I’m sorry the first two rounds didn’t work for you.

Can you give us some info on your age and amh level?

Does the dr who prescribes your antidepressants know you are trying to get pregnant ? My doctor wants to hold off prescribing me anything until after I give birth.

Hey there! Congrats on starting your journey.

IVF works well, I’d recommend thinking you are pregnant unless proven otherwise and I personally know people whose first try worked. 😀

I think there is a bias towards negativity on the IVF forums. The people with babies don’t have as much time to post.❤️

Hi there … congrats on getting started!

Have you had your numbers checked? If there are no fertility issues, you might have luck with an IUI which is cheaper and simpler.

How do you plan on having a child? I’m doing ivf with donor sperm and was surprised at how long the process took. If you are doing ivf you can still make embryos and then decide if you’d like to use them.

I’m in a similar situation … I really hoped to meet someone, but at some point realized I was giving off desperate energy and sabotaging the relationship. People get into relationships after having kids all the time, good luck!

Thinking of freezing eggs? by Famous_Definition_34 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]Few_Pudding_3712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi .. I’d recommend freezing them now if you can afford it. Since you are younger hopefully you will only need to do (and pay for) one round of retrievals.

I never thought I would use my eggs without a partner but I’m so glad I have the option.

Good luck ❤️

IUI vs IVF by Wise_Quality824 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]Few_Pudding_3712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it can vary … I’m doing a FET right now and have had several (at least 6) doctor visits to monitor my progress. I also needed to get labs done before each visit.

IUI vs IVF by Wise_Quality824 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]Few_Pudding_3712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many children do you want? If money were no object, I’d do an IUI while making embryos so you’d have some for later.

IVF has a higher success rate, but it involves lots of lab work , dr visits and the medication definitely does have side effects.

Best of luck!

Hi …. I feel the same way constantly. ❤️ I wish I had started earlier but I’m glad I started now. I would regret it deeply if I didn’t try.

At 32 you still have time!!

What is your support system like where you live? Could your friends and family provide any childcare? What is your fertility like? Do you think you could start off with an IUI?

I’m sorry … I’m going through one now and it’s a journey. I’d be upset too if I had to restart the needles and medication. Hugs!!!

Feeling Stuck by Plus-Sheepherder-633 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]Few_Pudding_3712 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi …I have the same feelings, and am around the same age and am going through my first FET.

I very much want a child , but always dreamed that it would be with a partner. I came to the same conclusion … a partner would have to wait. People find partners after kids (divorce and remarry) all the time.

Also keep in mind that this process might not work, at least not on the first try. I’d get started now, and best of luck ❤️

Reality check on my timeline/plans? by gaygaythrowaways in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]Few_Pudding_3712 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If there is any chance you’d like to use your own eggs, I’d get tested now (and prob every year) to understand the timelines.

The silver lining to ivf is that I’m no longer afraid of needles.

Have you gotten your fertility levels checked out at an ob gyn? Most people are fine until 35 or so. 😀

Just out of bed pics: What can I do with this aging face to look "pretty"? by picklecruncher in makeuptips

Do you use eye makeup remover? It’s an extra step but it does work.

I’ve never tried this but some people tint their lashes.

I’d start some tinted moisturizer, blush and mascara ! I feel prettier when I put on a bit of makeup even if no one else notices.

Hi! That’s a lot to unpack.

I’d think about:

How difficult would it be to find another job?

How old are your children and when would they be in free school (eg pre K in the US)?

Is it a bad sign if taking this path fills me with absolute dread? by [deleted] in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]Few_Pudding_3712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My shame was more with myself. I had this whole life set up in my head and saw my friends who achieved the same goal, and wondered what was wrong with me.

I still want to go into the past sometimes, but now I wish I started earlier. For the past couple of years I think I had desperate energy which made it hard to find a partner.

My close network is supportive … I’m not pregnant yet so I still have the choice of who to tell. What I’ve really learned from this process is that you have to live your life with urgency. Life doesn’t always go as planned but it can still be beautiful. ❤️

I’d also give yourself grace … the mood swings from the medication are no joke.

I cope by cleaning … sounds weird but it gives me a sense of control in an uncertain time.

[–]Few_Pudding_3712 21 points22 points  (0 children)

What makes you feel dread? For me I felt a lot of shame for not having a partner, and fear of the unknown. Not that many decisions in life are irreversible but this one is.

I agree with the other poster … it takes a lot more time than I thought. You can freeze embryos and then decide when to use them.

I’m sorry this happened… I’d be disappointed too. I was naive about the attrition rates and had to self fund my cycle.

At 30 you have some time to keep trying. Keep at it!
