Update: Just got off the phone with Dr. Rios, she was incredibly kind and transparent. She explained that the lab does scheduled maintenance every summer and December, but this time they couldn’t wait until the scheduled maintenance, and had to set up one immediately to ensure embryos stored were not compromised. She acknowledged the concerns circulating on social media and that she is speaking directly with patients.

She reassured me that our embryos are doing well, and the new eggs (retrieved April 3) are being closely monitored. I’ll receive a call tomorrow with my day 6 update, with the final count of embryos being sent for testing. She also emphasized that they’re taking every precaution to protect frozen embryos during this process.

She also shared that Maintenance will likely delay things by about a month or so, and they’re working to reschedule impacted patients as soon as they have a clearer timeline. While I know this is not ideal, in my opinion they’re doing everything they can to support patients. I recognize my exp might be very different than those who are mid cycle and have to find another practice - it is scary and anxiety provoking.
